Piper is approximately 30 lbs and around 6 months old. We are guessing she is an Aussie mix based on her energy and playful characteristics but it is just a guess. She is full of energy and plays non-stop when she is not working on crate training. While she will entertain herself temporarily, she prefers her human or another doggie friend to play with. She loves anything with a squeaker or a rope toy. Piper has a rough play style and plays well with the medium and larger dog in her foster home while tolerating the smaller dogs. She is working on crate and potty training. Due to her mouthiness/rough play style, we would not recommend that Piper have small children in her home. While a fenced yard is preferred as Piper has a LOT of energy, active families without a fence will be considered. Her new family will need to commit to training her but don't worry - she is very smart, treat motivated and is working hard on her basic manners in her foster home. Piper's adoption fee is $300.00 which includes 3 rounds of shots, spay, microchip and 1 month of heartworm preventative. Theo and I are looking for his happy place. In 2020 Theo was given to me from a friend,as a puppy. The next two years he lived with us and grew up with my boys! In 2022, we almost ended up homeless during a sell/buy that fell through and found a rental that didn’t allow him so I found him what I thought was a forever home. Fast forward to 2024 and the rental turned into us buying the place, and I eventually got not one, but 3 new dogs as Theo was long gone. One night I seen Theo pop up on Facebook marketplace, dogs aren’t even allowed on here but apparently I had seen it as soon as she posted it. He looked awful so at 11pm at night I went and picked him up. He was in a kennel too small, had no food, missing hair patches, no shots, infested with fleas, you name it. We went to the vet and got him cleaned up. I cannot keep up with 4 dogs, two kids. Theo is a protector and kind of like an old man usually just laying around. Seems a little skiddish. Overall a really great boy.

Little 20lb mini/toy Australian Shepherd Pepper came to us after rescue friends saved her from a breeder auction to prevent her from having to spend her little life making profits for another breeder! She was pregnant at the time (not known by rescuers) and had her very last litter on 8/9/2024 of 5 little boys! They all are spoken for and now it is momma's turn to find the best forever, loving family :) She is a sweet girl and can be a bit shy at first but warms up quickly. She does well with other dogs and doesn't seem bothered by our cats here. She has not been around young humans so we believe a home without kiddos under teenage years would be the best for her. She does not like being kenneled, but does fine as long as she knows no one is around to let her out. ##2240671##

Toodaloo! Hi there, I'm Teddy! I'm a handsome and friendly boy whose owner unfortuneytly couldnt take care of me anymore. That's okay, as I make friends with everyone! I look to be around 3 and 1/2 year old. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! *ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED* This is Gimli. We believe that she is a Australian Shepherd mix. She will end up around 25-30 pounds. Gimli came to Judy's Forgotten Jewells on June 1st. She was brought to us by a Missouri shelter with her littermates. Since she has been in care, staff members say that she is sooo sweet and playful. She gets along well with other dogs, especially those around her size. She was previously in a home with another older, larger dog and a cat. While she was behaving appropriately with them, the resident pets were not adjusting to her. She is smart and would make a wonderful adventure buddy for an active family. The adoption fee includes their care, de-worming, microchip, neuter, vaccines, fecal test, and preventatives up to the point of adoption.
