Meet Rocky! Rocky is a very smart boy who will be going to the (P4P) Puppies for Parole Training to become an ESA/Service Dog. He is good with other dogs, a bit timid of new people but warms up super fast for belly rubs! Rocky is an Australian Shepherd with a tail! He has every characteristic of the breed and the smarts to go with it! We think this boy will excel in his training. Rocky will be in training for 8 week with a tentative graduation date of late December, early January. Rocky is fully vetted including Neuter, Heartworm Test (negative), Dewormed, Vaccinated including Lepto and Rabies as well as Microchipped! If you are interested in adopting Rocky please complete our adoption application on our website at www.moberlyanimalshelter.bravesites.com Meet and greets will be scheduled Monday - Friday between the hours of 9am - 3pm as they will take place at the Moberly Department of Corrections.

Story
This dog was adopted in mid October 2024 in Columbia, MO. It has become apparent that he cannot achieve a decent baseline quality of life in the presence of cats or other dog/cat pets in the home, and will need to be adopted to a home where he is at minimum the only pet that is a dog or cat. There is a much bigger backstory here I'll be happy to share for anyone with questions, but there is a character limit on this post. As for his personality, he is VERY one-to-one, and is looking for an active life companion. He has not been socialized directly with children, but responds warmly and positively to all humans he's been in contact with ranging from teenager to senior citizen. Please note: this dog will thrive in a fenced in yard with room to run, and cannot be left alone or kenneled for more than 4-6 hours maximum. He LOVES attention, and will be the full-time shadow of whomever he next bonds with. Just remember to keep food out of reach!
