URGENT Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Kalamazoo, MI Oxford is an 8 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs 59 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, and on heartworm prevention. Oxford is good with older children and cats! No younger children or dogs, due to his reactivity! Oxford is mostly blind and the patella on one of his back legs is dislocated. The owner is surrendering him because they are unable to provide him the time, attention, and lifestyle he deserves due to their lifestyle and living situation. He needs to go by 9/15! If you think you can provide a great home for Oxford, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Oxford. Owner’s Contact Information: Abigale at abbiearbeit@gmail.com.

Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Story
Naomi was found as a stray and taken to our local animal control before coming to the shelter. She is one of our longest residents and has been with us since early June of this year. We think that she is a husky/shepherd mix and around 2 years old. She is extremely affectionate and loves to jump up and give you kisses. She looks forward to her daily walks and playtime in our yard where she can run and chase her variety of toys. She is the perfect balance of playful and tranquil. She is potty trained and always keeps a very clean kennel. She is spayed, up to date on her flea and heart worm prevention, and has been given a distemper vaccine. She has also been dewormed and microchipped. She loves people and has done well with kids, but would do best in a single pet home. This beautiful girl is ready for to find her forever family! ??
