Story
My grandfather is currently on hospice and my grandmother passed back in 2022. Gracie has been with my grandparents since June 24, 2017. She is about 7 years old now. She has not been around other animals, children, or people besides my grandparents, my father, and myself. She is very territorial and does not like strangers. I know the state she is in is a long shot trying to find someone to take her in, however we just want her to be able to live out her life. We are not able to care for her due to him having a dog and I have a child.

Story
very sweet 10 month old, Larger female dog. Potty trained, likes her crate but opened. Sweetie understands basic commands, sit, stay, lay down. just wants to be loved and petted. She does like to play with stuffed animals and a ball. In the process of learning to walk on the left side and not pull the chain. The owner stayed at home most days and took her out in public. The owner left the country. I feel like she would be really good for a person who works remote or an adventurer that likes to walk dogs and stay at home. Also, very good for family with kids probably over eight. she does need to be trained, not to jump on you when she is excited, especially when you first come home. She does relax if your watching tv or likes to watch you do things ie in kitchen etc. I don’t want to put her in a shelter. I’m trying to keep her at my house until I find an owner. Hopefully soon. Up to date on shots but has not been spayed, but does have an appointment on 23 of January 12/Ryan area.

Story
This is a very good dog with high energy! He needs to be in a home with a yard and a lot of exercise. He loves to play with toys and play ball. He loves to play tug of war. He was a crate dog when I took him and hes doing well, but adjusting being out of the crate, but I still put him in the crate when I leave the house. He hasn’t chewed anything up except toys as puppies always do. He does pretty good on a leash. He’s learning to listen well he is just very hyper. He will be 1 year old in December, just needs a good loving home 😀

Story
Meet Henson! This one-year-old Aussie mix is 45 pounds of handsome heart-throb! His charismatic energy will captivate you from the start! Aussie's love an active lifestyle and Henson is no exception. He lives for his time in the yard and his new family must be committed to providing daily exercise and mental and stimulation! Henson will benefit from continued training to help mold him into the best boy he can be! Two fabulous volunteers recently whisked Henson away from kennel life for a fun-filled adventure! During the car ride, he had a brief moment of "I want to be co-pilot! but once he burned off some of that zest, he settled down nicely. They strolled through the gorgeous Metamora State Park on a 3-mile jaunt. At first, Henson was a bundle of joy and energy on the leash, but he soon figured it out-though he couldn't resist stopping to leap up and shower everyone with hugs! He met a few folks along the way and was a bit shy, but overall did really well. Other dogs caught his eye, but he kept his cool and didn't make a peep. All in all, Henson showed off his charming personality and boundless potential! This smart pup is ready for action-he just needs a family to believe in him! If you're looking for a pal to accompany you on all of your adventures, Henson could be the pup you've been searching for! He'll no doubt provide years of laughs and love for a very lucky family! Based on our evaluation, we feel Henson would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. He may have the potential to live in a home with other dogs. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Please fill out an application at greatlakesdogrescue.com or contact GLDR today to inquire more about this intelligent guy!

Story
Hi, my name is Penny, and I'm a sweet and affectionate young lady with a lot of love to give. I am about 3 years old and weigh 45 pounds with the prettiest gray coat. Even though I can be a bit timid at first, I'm a total cuddle bug and I can't get enough of those snuggly laps. My only care is to be as close to you as possible, soaking up all the love. Here's what you should know about me: I'm still a bit scared of the world and lack confidence, but with the right person by my side who can help build my confidence, I know I can overcome my fears. If you're patient, kind, and looking for a furry friend to love you unconditionally, I might be the one for you. I'm not too sure how I feel about other dogs just yet, but I'm willing to give them a chance. I'm still learning how to be confident and exploring the world around me, so I need to have a home where any children are at least 13 years old and an adopter who can be my leader. I think this kennel environment is very scary, so I am hoping my forever family finds me quickly. If you are interested in Penny and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
