Story

Milo is a high energy 5.5-year-old, half Austrian Shepard, half English Shepard. I received him from a breeder off a farm near Elizabethtown, KY when he was an 8-week-old puppy. He has lived most of his life in the city, however my parents have a farm that he visits frequently. Milo loves to run around the farm and explore. He has always been a very smart dog, he would learn tricks quickly, but he will push the boundaries of the trick/command. Milo has had some problems with aggression in the past. Generally, Milo is friendly with humans, just give him time to greet you, but other dogs tend to make him defensive, specifically large male dogs. Usually, if he has time to slowly meet another dog and get used to the dog, he is very playful with them. Milo has tons of energy and would be a great dog for lots of exercise, I have walked with him and run with him before on the leash, but he does pull some. The ideal home for Milo would be lots of land, or at least somewhere with a large yard.

Story

Cooper is a 44lb male Aussie/American Shepherd mix and just turned 3 years old on October 22nd. He was raised with other dogs but he needs a home where he is the only dog. (We are needing to rehome him due to him and our other male not getting along). We are heartbroken, but we know going to a new home that meets his needs will be best for him. He is a loyal, sweet, empathetic dog who needs stability. He is potty and crate trained (we have a crate for him to take to his new home). He has never showed aggression to people and gets a long with men and women. While we don’t have kids he has always been friendly with kids he’s met. He likes to keep busy! He is very smart and catches on to routines and commands very easily. Cooper is neutered, and is up to date on his shots. He current date on flea/tick prevention, and he is also microchipped. He has some anxiety and needs someone who is patient & prepared for Aussie anxiety. He’s a great companion & deserves only the very best in life!

Meet SHERLOCK-Paws Behind Bars Trained SHERLOCK is a 1-year-old male, Aussie? mix who weighs 40 lbs. We feel he is very close to his mature weight. We are guessing at his breed mix only because of his beautiful merle coat and his energy level. This guy is very friendly and very active. SHERLOCK is very outgoing, and he's good with other dogs. He came to us from a local shelter where he was picked up as a stray. More than likely, someone got him as a puppy and then was not able to provide the proper amount of exercise. Thanks to our volunteers, he'll get to go on long walks so we can get an idea of when he throttles it back a bit. His perfect family should be active. A good fenced in yard and another young dog to play with are also desired. IMPORTANT: Please Keep in mind both the age and life expectancy of Sherlock. TRUDY is a 4 year old mini Australian shepherd mix female that weighs 22 lbs. She was first listed as "free to good home" by her family then found 2 weeks later running the streets. Now she is safe with us. Trudy is a great size with a very easy to manage coat. But even at 4 years, she's got energy and is "begging" us to get the agility equipment out. She is quick and she is agile. She's even pretty good at entertaining herself with the right toy! With talent like this, we felt she'd be a great addition to our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. Here she is being kept busy with obedience training. The basics have to come first before the fancy stuff. She's in her glory with all the new dog friends and new things to investigate. What we know for sure is that she can settle down and nap in your lap. We also know she's a talker. Trudy's perfect family will be an active one. This little one can go all day long. She's the perfect size for someone who travels. We are leaning towards her being the kind of dog that just needs "her person" and not much else.
