Meet Magellan! He had been living on the street for a few months when someone asked if we could take him in. He’s sooooo happy and bouncy! He weighs 51 pounds and is about a year old, still a baby with sparkling white teeth! He is GREAT with the other dogs in the yard, but plays a little too rough for smaller dogs. He has a chill disposition and isn’t dominant with the other dogs. Magellan is super smart and did great during his brief time in a temporary home. He learned sit and down quickly, and he does well in his crate. He loves to cuddle. Magellan loves to play! He would be a great addition to any home!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. Shamus is a handsome 3 year old male Australian Shepherd! He weighs 13.2 pounds and has been shy with people. We think he will do well with his new family as long as they can give him some time to warm up and get settled in at his new home. Shamus has been friendly with the other dogs at the rescue. Shamus has been neutered, microchipped & is up to date on his vaccines. His heartworm test was negative and he had a dental exam and cleaning. He needed several teeth removed. Our vet said he is apparently healthy. Alofo is a 6 year old miniature Aussie. He is in a foster home. This is what the foster had to say: Al is friendly with other dogs. Once settled in he likes his bath. Needs brushed a few times a week with his beautiful long hair. Doesn't mind grooming with clippers. Has not been to groomer but has no problem with foster mom and dad grooming him. He prefers to lay in his bed during the day. Plays with toys and his dog sister sometimes too. Starting to warm up to his people and will approach and take food/treats from their hand. Fast movements by people scare him and he sometimes barks when people enter the house. The barking may be due in part to his dog sister. During the day he goes out side to potty. Sometimes likes to mark new territory that is placed in his environment. No kennel accidents. Has used pee pad at night at times. He prefers to sleep in kennel at night with door closed though. Kennel is put up during the day so he lays in bed on floor. Does not get on furniture unless human puts him on chair or couch. Will set with humans on couch and relax. I always talk to him and approach him slowly before picking him up. Have no problem picking him up. He lets me love on him. Has done very well at his vet visits. Likes to eat food in kennel during the night. His sister is somewhat intrusive and gets in his kennel and eats his food. He lets her. He does not like the leash,refuses to walk on leash and try's to get away from it. He will follow you wherever you go outside or if you call him without the leash. Initially was Houdini and would remove his collar in seconds. Now leaves collar on and doesn't try to remove it. He makes sure everyone is ready to go back in before he goes into the house. He herds his people and dog sister back into the house after each trip outside and patiently waits if he is done but others are not ready. Alofo has been neutered and is current on microchips. We purchased our pup from a breeder. She is 1.5 years old. She is super sweet, smart, loyal, fun. We would keep her 1000 times over if we didn't have such a busy household with family, friends and neighbors coming over often. With 3 kids (teens and preteens) we are always having their friends or neighborhood kids come over to hangout/play. She is perfect once she gets to know you. But if you are an adult or kid she doesn't know and suddenly is there, she goes into her herding mode and tries to protect us and her animal siblings from that person coming up to the house or entering our house. She will run towards them, keep circling them until she gets close enough to nip their leg to try to make them go away. If we hold her and introduce her to the guest and show her they are not a threat, then she is fine. But with our busy household, we can't always do that. She would be best in a household where not a lot of people are coming and going.
