Story
Eddie is an adorable (slightly chunky) mini Aussie who was a breeder release last fall. He is a July 2019 model, and is a happy calm boy with that famous 'Aussie Wiggle Butt' when excited. He is still shy around new things and people but with a trusted human by his side he continues to excel.
His foster mom is working hard with him teaching how to walk on a leash, sit, down, recall, going up and down stairs (yes, this is new to him), potty training refresher, how to socialize with other dogs, people and more as this is a whole new world for him. He has started beginner obedience classes, Eddie is super smart and is picking everything up quickly, continued training with a new family would be highly recommended.
Eddie is cautiously curious about cats, and he likes other dogs, (overly excited puppies and young dogs carry too much energy and he tends to shy away from them). Small and young energetic children would be too much for this shy guy, a quieter household would be best. he needs a patient person that understands him, his past and that will take things a his pace.
This little Aussie has quickly adapted to the routine of his foster home, potty times, breakfast and supper times, and the best time of day - Treat Time! Cheese is his new found discovery and he will do pretty much anything if a cheese reward is in it for him! Eddie stands like a pro for baths, ear cleaning, clipping with scissors, and feet handling. He loves being brushed, butt scratches, car rides and more cheese! Eddie wears a belly wrap when loose in the house with other inmates as he likes to mark things. Perhaps with training and close monitoring this can be a thing of the past, he does not mind wearing it and does not wear it when in his crate, which he keeps clean.
All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org
When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition.
Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed.
If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only.
