HOW TO ADOPT: This pet is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this pet, please email fosterinquiry@arl-iowa.org.---- Loves people and activity and likes to be at the center of whatever's going on - He loves eating treats, playing with his ball, and getting pets from his people - Prefers to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once he's in a home environment, has had time to decompress, and perhaps has a like-minded dog friend All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Blonde Secondary Color: White Weight: 50.5 Age: 4yrs 6mths 0wks

Story
He’s a big sweetie Velcro dog who loves butt scratches and knuckles ear rubs. He’s great on leash and following commands, would be a great show dog if that’s what you’re into, though you may have to get him back in shape! He likes to cuddle and sleep on the bed, and he might lick you a little too much.. but he usually stops if you tell him to… sometimes it’s easier to cave in 😂 Apollo has been our dog for the past 7 years. We adopted him at 6 months from a local breeder, but it was immediately clear he had behavioral issues, he can be aggressive with strangers, and is especially anxious around kids. Regardless we chose to give him the best life that we could, but unfortunately his behavior toward our toddler has not improved in the last 18 months and we’ve been forced to keep them separated. This type of life is unfitting of such an otherwise caring dog. A home w/o pets or children is probably best, though he loves boarding and tolerates our other dog.

Story
Nebula, a truly beautiful dog. While her past holds some hardship – she was found living on the streets with her seven puppies – her spirit shines through. Nebula is a sweet and beautiful girl, possessing a gentle nature that will blossom with the right amount of patience and understanding. Nebula's intelligence is evident in her quick grasp of commands. She's already house-trained and crate-trained, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt. She enjoys walks immensely, exhibiting a calm and easy-going temperament. What Nebula truly desires is a loving home where she can finally feel safe and secure. While her street life has made her initially cautious around new people, once she builds trust, her playful puppy-like energy resurfaces. It's a beautiful transformation to witness. We believe Nebula would thrive in a quiet and patient home, ideally with someone experienced in working with dogs who have experienced trauma. With the right care, she'll become the most loyal and loving companion imaginable. If you're interested in learning more about Nebula and potentially offering her a loving forever home, please don't hesitate to contact us. $200 In State Adoption Fee (in Texas) $400 Out of State Fee (includes Transportation to your area) $50 Temporary fuel surcharge.

Story
Meet Marcus, a smart, playful, and active Border Collie-Retriever mix with a heart full of love and potential! This handsome boy is full of energy and would thrive in a home that can keep up with his enthusiasm for daily play and mental stimulation. He’s incredibly intelligent and enjoys learning new tricks and commands, making him a great companion for anyone looking to bond over training and activities. While Marcus has had a challenging start to life, having been found on the streets, he’s come a long way and is now looking for a special family that understands his unique needs. Due to his past experiences, Marcus is best as the only dog in the home and would benefit from an adopter who can provide him with a secure environment where he can continue to thrive. He does have some food resource guarding tendencies, which is why being the only dog in a home is essential. He can also be very creative when it comes to looking for food so make sure your counters are free of food as he has been known to eat entire loaves of bread. Marcus is a loving and loyal companion in the home, and with the right care and patience, he will blossom into an even more wonderful pet. He would do best in a calm, quiet environment without the stress of other dogs or public spaces like dog parks, but he’ll give you endless affection and joy in return. If you’re looking for an intelligent, active, and loving dog who’s ready to build a life full of adventures with you, Marcus might just be the perfect fit. He’s waiting for his forever home where he can truly feel safe and loved! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Hello! I'm Archer and I'm hoping to find a forever home. I love to run around with other dogs, young or old, and have no problem keeping up with them even though I am on the older side. I love to voice my opinions with an "awoo" when I am happy and often show my joy with a sweet smile. I don't always understand kids, and would most likely prefer a home with older children over 12. I know how to sit, shake and roll over.... Aren't I smart?! I know how to walk pretty well on the leash and I love kisses and hugs. Come meet me today!

Story
Kane is a very well-behaved and well-trained dog who absolutely loves to have a job, and loves to play the game fetch. His main goal is to please his owners. Kane is a very loving dog as well who loves snuggles and belly rubs. My partner and I adore Kane and think the world of him, but unfortunately, we both have become very busy with our careers and don't feel it is fair to Kane not to be given the amount of attention he deserves. Kane is a dog who never barks, can be left alone without being destructive at all, and loves people and other dogs. He is house-trained and is great on long walks or hikes and loves to be outdoors. I want Kane to go to a home that will give him enough attention and love throughout the day and excersise that he deserves.
