Story
Available In Old Lyme, CT This very handsome dude is Kumo! He is currently in a board/train facility in CT. He is a 2 year old energetic boy. After working with him I have learned that the best place for him would be a place with no children or other animals and an area that will have a fenced in yard with a calm area neighborhood. Kumo is a young energetic dog that loves to eat. Kumo knows his basic commands and tries to push the envelope when it come to wait and stay. When he relaxing he would prefer to be left alone. Kumo enjoys his chew toys. Kumo needs time to warm up to new people. He likes to be asked to do something over being pushed physically. Kumo will go far in the right home. He wants to work and be loved. Kumo likes to walk, jog, snuggle and get lots of pets. He is high energy with a big appetite. Kumo is neutered, current on immunizations, housebroken and on preventatives. If you think this boy is a good fit for your family, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts. Disclosure: Kumo has a bite history, however he has been in a board/train facility for a few months and the trainer has seen no sign of this behavior.

Story
Max is a 6 year old Australian shepherd border collie! His family died on him. Actually one did and the other needs assisted living. Poor guy. He’s a good boy. Walks on leash. He seems okay when he sees most dogs when walking. He never lived with children. He has when he was younger lived with a cat. He also has played with my dogs a few years ago. See he is in Ohio. I live in Connecticut. I go back and forth. I’m looking for his vet records. When his family was healthy they had him up to date on vaccinations and on a flea and tick protocol. He also went to the groomers regularly. But I’m not sure how long ago now. He sleeps at night and doesn’t usually wake you up unless you sleep in real late. He loves walks. I don’t see evidence of food allergies. He really is a good boy and I don’t want money. I want a good home for him

Story
This gorgeous girl is Lass. She is a one-year-old Australian shepherd or collie mix and weighs 34 lb. Lass is a high energy young dog whose ideal home is with somebody that’s active and ready to train. She can be slightly shy when meeting new people but does quickly warm up, especially with treats and toys involved. She does need some work when walking on leash as she will try to back out of it and does not seem to have much experience with a leash. Lass is food motivated and ready to learn! Lass does exhibit a lot of traits that herding dogs have, like car reactivity and wanting to herd other dogs. She would do well with dog-savvy children and would enjoy an active doggie friend to play with. We don't know what Lass thinks of cats, but can cat-test her if needed. Lass is vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and healthy. Her adoption fee is $395. If you would like to meet/adopt Lass, please complete our online application at https://daws.org/daws-forms or stop by at our shelter Wednesday-Sunday between 12 and 6 PM. The DAWS shelter address is 147 Grassy Plain St. Bethel. We welcome you to find your furry friend here!

Meet Onyx!  Onyx is a very special boy.  Onyx was abandoned with his mate and their puppies. The rest of the crew went on to be rescued but Onyx is still waiting.  At one point he had a home and family - we'd love to see him have that opportunity again.  Onyx is special in that he is deaf - although he has no idea and it doesn't slow him down at all!!  Deaf dogs present just a bit of a challenge and are truly not that different than other dogs.  Training with hand signals is fairly easy and effective, and they take to it easily with the proper encouragement and love.  Onyx is an active and playful boy, he loves other dogs and would likely do best in a home with another agreeable dog to take his cues from.  This would allow him to read the body language of the other dog and know better what is expected of him.  Onyx is good with people, friendly and affectionate.  We are recommending pre teens/teenagers for him only because they can be more aware not to scare him with quick movements or grabs.  If you're looking for a new best friend, partner in life and all things fun, this may be your guy.     Applications can be submitted through https://lgarinc.org/adoption-application/.  Please note that you must be 25 years of age to adopt and we reserve the right to refuse adoption to anyone.  All applications are subject to review and approval and a tax-deductible adoption donation is required to be paid prior to adoption day.   Please note that you must be 25 years of age to adopt and we reserve the right to refuse adoption to anyone.  Please be advised that we will not approve adoptions to persons who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on this application.  Incomplete applications will not be processed. Story
Meet Ridge! He is a blue-eyed handsome fella that is about 10 months old. He is looking for his forever home and would love to have a home with a big yard for him to stretch his long legs. He loves to run and play and is learning to fetch doggie toys when thrown. We don't know what his breed is but thinking the blue eyes are from some type of shepherd, maybe Aussie or even husky breed. His sweet disposition resembles a Golden Retriever. Getting him a DNA test would be awesome to find out exactly what he is:) Regardless of his breed, we do know that Ridge is a very sweet boy learning his potty manners. He gets along well with all sizes of dogs/pups. He has been walking on a leash with a harness and is doing great. He is a very smart boy! He loves to take car rides and will look out the window or lay down in the seat. Go ahead and apply to adopt this sweet boy!! Ridge Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. The adoption fee is $550 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get an automatically generated confirmation email. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.
