Story
**** COURTESY POST - DOG IS NOT AT THE SHELTER **** Milo is a 1-year-old Australian-German Shepherd mix who’s full of energy and potential. This handsome, large pup is up to date on all his vaccines, potty trained, and crate trained. As much as his current family loves him, they feel he deserves more than they can offer due to health challenges, a lack of yard space, and a busy schedule. Milo is a friendly inside dog who has lived with dogs, cats, and kids. He’s great with his furry and human companions, though he enjoys chasing cats (but doesn’t harm them). He’s known to “demand bark” for attention and needs someone who can provide him with the exercise, socialization, and playtime he craves—ideally with a yard to run in. He’s protective and would thrive with an active owner who has time for him. If you have the space and energy to keep up with Milo’s playful spirit, please contact his family. To learn more, reach out to Christina (916) 912-9953 Email christinarisso@yahoo.com All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
This is Sully or Sullivan. He’s a 7 year old Aussie. He is the sweetest most loving boy and loves humans. As much as it’s heart breaking to rehome him, he needs a life where he is the center of attention and the only animal in the house. Unfortunately, he doesn’t get along with our other pets, and we feel like it’s best for him to find a new home. Needs a home on property or a big backyard. Just looking to find the perfect permanent home for him where he can flourish! Please reach out if you have more questions.

Story
Meet Boba, the wonderdog! Boba is just under a year old and is the epitome of a happy-go-lucky boy. He has been through so much but has remained such a ray of sunshine who loves everyone he meets. The word "stranger" isn't in Boba's vocabulary, instead, he sees everyone as a potential new BFF. Boba has blown us away with his resilience and love of life and we can't wait to see what his future holds. Boba likely is fully grown and weighs about 41lbs. Due to being a tripod, his new family will need to ensure he stays slim to avoid any unnecessary weight on his front leg. Boba came to us from a local shelter when his previous family surrendered him after he came into the shelter as a stray. He was found with a broken leg that had healed incorrectly and it was determined that the best thing was to have the leg amputated. Boba has adjusted very well to being on three legs and doesn't let it stop him from doing lots of zoomies. Boba is the perfect mix of cuddly and active and is pretty much happy to do whatever as long as he can be by your side. His favorite activities include tug-of-war, playing tag with his foster sister, or throwing a toy around for himself to play with. He is an expert cuddler and is happy to lay his entire body on top of you for nap time. Boba radiates happiness and it's pretty impossible not to have a smile on your face when he's around. Boba has been doing great with his basic manners but is still a puppy who can get mouthy when excited. He also isn't afraid to vocalize when he wants attention or someone to play with him. He would benefit from some continued training to help him be the best boy he can be. Boba has done get with all the dogs he has met and would be a great buddy for someone looking for a playmate for their active pup. His best friend is a little chihuahua/terrier mix and he has done great mellowing his playstyle to match hers. Due to his puppy antics, he probably wouldn't be a good fit to live with an older dog unless there was another active dog for him to play with. Boba has done well with dog-savvy cats but does think it's a fun game to chase them if they run. He likely could do well living with confident cats with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Boba has also done well co-existing with the chickens in his foster home. Boba could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years or older. Boba has been doing great with his house and crate training. He sleeps in his crate at night and has done well being left home alone in his crate for a few hours at a time. Since he is so people-oriented, he would do best with a family who doesn't have to leave him alone often or for long. Boba has done well living in an apartment with plenty of daily exercise. Boba was born with a heart defect called  pulmonary stenosis. He was evaluated at UC Davis and had a procedure called a balloon valvuloplasty done. Boba recovered very well from the procedure and the cardiologist thinks he has a very high chance of living a normal life post-op. Boba will need to continue to receive twice daily medication for his heart until he is reevaluated in 3 months. He will need yearly check-ups with a cardiologist for the rest of his life to ensure his heart remains healthy. He will never be a doggie athlete, but he can live a life full of adventure and can still do normal activities like running and playing. Boba is such an amazing dog and we have all fallen head over heels in love with him. We know his perfect family is out there! If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Boba's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. November 7, 2024, 12:17 pm

Story
Meet Shuman in Auburn, CA, Shuman is a beautiful young, fast and sweet 1year old Aussie mix. He is a lean, tall 50 lbs. Shuman is neutered and UTD on vaccines and Heartworm/flee & tick prevention. He gets along with other well-mannered energetic dogs, but NOT cats. He is playful, loves toys, is good on a leash and is learning Sit, Down & Stay. This is all new to him so continued training will be necessary. His foster mom thinks of him as a sweet puppy in a teenage dog body. Shuman came to us a little over a month ago from a Central California Shelter. He had been at the shelter for a month or so while awaiting his Stray hold to be done. It seems that Shuman had been on the streets, and it took Animal services a while to catch/trap him. The Shelter staff reached out to find him a foster because he was so shy and shut down. He wouldn't eat or come out of the corner for affection. It was very unlikely that he would get adopted while at the shelter. While at his foster home in Northern California, Shuman has taken a while to warm up and begin to trust his foster mom & dad. He is gaining confidence though and with that is showing his true puppylike personality. Though Shuman is still shy with people he does take to some people more quickly than others. He is leery of being caught or grabbed and will need time and lots of patience with his new people. Once Shuman learns to love and trust you, he'll show his fun silly nature. He may even steal one of your socks to show how much he loves you. Shuman will need a secure environment with a very well fenced yard. Because Shuman needs time to learn to trust his new people, he may try to 'escape' so should be kept on a leash (even in the fenced yard) for the first three weeks in his new home. Foster mom feels Shuman would do well with an active person, maybe someone who would like a running partner. Shuman- Loves toys, Young dog, puppylike and gaining social confidence Needs other well-behaved dogs to model after NO CATS Chickens- not recommended for New owner- Patient Active and experienced dog owsner-maybe a runner? If you sound like a great match for Shuman, here is the link to the app: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
This handsome young boy is a sweet Aussie mix who is named after the kind pilot that flew him to his foster family in Auburn, CA. Shu is a lean, tall 50 lbs., is neutered and UTD on vaccines and Heartworm/flee & tick prevention. He has quite a story… Shuman came from a Central California Shelter where he was not thriving. He was shut down and scared. Even animal control had a heck of a time trapping him off the streets. In the shelter, he was shy and wouldn’t eat or come out of the corner for affection. It was very likely he would have been euthanized had his foster parents not taken a chance to rehabilitate him. He is one lucky pup! Today, less than three months later, Shuman has blossomed. He plays well with other polite dogs, loves toys, and is good on a leash. He has been learning some commands while with his foster family and knows Sit and Down. He is working on Stay and waiting at the thresholds. Shuman now trusts his foster mom and dad but needs time to warm up to strangers. He has gained some confidence, and his true puppy-like personality is showing through. He has begun to walk up to neighbors for pets and treats while out on walks and greet his foster family at the door with a wagging tail. Shuman loves his balls too and will bark enthusiastically for ball play. Sometimes he entertains himself by throwing the ball up and catching it. How Aussie is that? Shu is crate trained and will need one in his new home because it’s his safe place when he feels afraid or needs a break. In the evening, Shuman looks for something to chew on, so his crate is a good place for him to enjoy a chew toy or bully stick. You know the saying: You get out of a relationship what you put into it? With Shu, it will be that way. Shuman will need lots of patience with his new people. He occasionally will chew on things. He shouldn't but takes redirection well. He is not a dog you will meet and get lots of love from instantly. He says,” I am no labrador!” He will need a secure environment with a very well fenced yard; he may try to ‘escape’ if he gets frightened so should be kept on a leash (even in the fenced yard) for the first few weeks in his new home for insurance. Shuman is afraid of quick movements and does not like loud popping noises like gunshots or chopping wood and will seek a place to hide when he hears them. This sweetie has a really good off switch and will relax most of the day but he loves to get his walkies out in the morning and evening so will do well with an active person, maybe someone who would like a running partner. No cats, chickens or other small animals please. Once Shuman learns to love and trust you, he’ll show his fun, silly nature. We think he has made incredible gains in a short time and will continue to be a Good Boy with the right EXPERIENCED family. He may even ‘sit pretty’ and put his paws on you for affection which is so endearing; when he does this, you’ll know you’ve become his person. Please consider this boy. He deserves a soft warm bed with you to cuddle with! If he sounds perfect for your family, here is the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoptions There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Courtesy Post: Owner Surrender/Rehoming- Rohnert Park, CA Meet Yeti! He is an 4 year old Australian Shepherd and weighs 50 lbs. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots and on heartworm prevention. Yeti hasn’t been tested around older children or cats. No younger children, due to his reactivity! He is good with dogs, but plays rough and is vocal when playing with them! He needs to be fed separately, due to his food aggression. Yeti bit the owner’s wife in May 2023. They were both laying on the couch. She didn’t see the lick mat behind him. She went to say hi and pet him, which resulted in him lunging at and biting her. The owner is surrendering him because he growls/shows teeth at their baby whenever the baby tries to crawl towards him. He needs to go ASAP! If you think you can provide a great home for Yeti, please contact the owner listed below. There is a $150 rehoming fee to assure good folks with good intentions. This fee will be donated to Australian Shepherds Furever for their assistance in placing Yeti. Owner’s Contact Information: Scott at scott.walsh64@gmail.com

Story
************COURTESY POST***** NOT AT THE SHELTER SEE NUMBER TO CALL BELOW***** Hello, I'm Maximus, but my friends call me Max. I celebrated my third birthday in September 2023. Max is a well-behaved pup who responds to both verbal and non-verbal commands. He's crate-trained, full of energy, and thrives when given tasks to do. We believe he's an Australian Kelpie mix with some other breed. Max walks excellently on a harness and leash. Outdoors, Max can be protective if someone approaches too closely to him or his loved ones. He grew up in a household with another older dog, birds, and children. Due to changes in our circumstances, we need to find a new home for Max. He deserves to have more freedom than an apartment can provide, especially while we're away at work. Additionally, with a baby on the way in March, we worry that Max may not adjust well to the change, as he's used to interacting with slightly older children. If you have any questions or if I've missed any important details, please feel free to reach out to me at 530-554-5091. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control.
