All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, March 8th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $550 Rocky Road is the perfect mix of sweet, nutty, and full of surprises—just like his namesake! This 6 year old, 16 pound Mini Aussie-Spaniel mix is packed with personality. He’s got the energy of a double scoop, the devotion of your favorite comfort treat, and just the right amount of crunch (especially when he gets excited for treats!). Whether he’s zooming around the house or melting into you for back scritches, Rocky Road is guaranteed to add a little flavor to your life. Much like a heaping bowl of his namesake, Rocky Road came with a few extra toppings when he first arrived—like a tendency to jump on tables in search of snacks! Now that he’s settled in, he’s showing his softer side. He’s a certified Velcro dog, always sticking close to his foster dad, and loves rolling against you for extra love. While he still wears a belly band indoors as he masters house training, he’s completely crate-trained and often tucks himself in for a cozy nap in his crate with the door open. Rocky Road enjoys a daily routine filled with adventure. He starts his mornings with a walk at 6:30 am, followed by breakfast, and then naps while his humans are at work. Afternoons and evenings bring more walks, lounging in the office, and hanging out with the family. On weekends, he enjoys spending all day with his people, making sure they never have a moment without a little extra sweetness in their lives. He loves toys, will happily toss them for himself, and gets a kick out of barking at other dogs during walks—he’s still learning that not every pup wants to be part of his sundae squad! The ideal home for Rocky Road? One where his people are around often and ready to take him on plenty of adventures—hiking, walking, or maybe even camping under the stars. A yard would be a great bonus for this energetic pup, and older kids would be best since he gets extra excited for treats (watch your fingers—placing them on the ground is the safest way to serve this little guy his snacks!). If you're looking for a dog with a heart full of love, a spirit full of fun, and just the right amount of crunch, Rocky Road is ready to be the sweetest addition to your home!March 9, 2025, 1:46 pm

Story
Cody is a remarkably well-behaved and affectionate dog, possessing a special fondness for humans, particularly children. I had the pleasure of welcoming him into my life when he was just 11 weeks old. As a breed, Cody is endowed with abundant energy, which he loves to expend through regular walks and playtime. Notwithstanding his energetic nature, he has consistently demonstrated remarkable restraint, never causing damage to property even on occasions when I was unable to provide him with sufficient physical activity. One of Cody's most admirable traits is his quiet demeanor; he rarely barks, except in response to emergency sirens. Unfortunately, due to my impending relocation to a country with a significantly hotter climate, I am faced with the difficult decision of finding a new home for Cody, where he can receive the care and comfort he deserves.

Story
Steel is a stunning chocolate and white Australian Shepherd mix, about three years old and 55 pounds of pure potential. This handsome boy is looking for a special home that understands his shy nature and can give him the patience and love he needs to truly thrive. Steel is dog and cat friendly and would do best in a home with a confident dog sibling to show him the ropes. After arriving at a Central Valley shelter as a stray, he was terrified and completely shut down. But thanks to the dedication of shelter staff, he slowly started to come out of his shell—and now, he’s ready to take the next step toward finding his forever family. True to his Aussie roots, Steel is a highly intelligent dog who will do best in an active home where he can use both his body and mind. He would make an incredible trail dog and a devoted adventure partner for someone willing to build his confidence. Once he bonds, he will be the most loyal and faithful companion. Steel is already fully vetted and making great progress with house and crate training. Now, all he needs is a loving home to help him continue his journey. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Recliner, the studly Aussie Shepherd who’s just one snuggle away from being your ultimate best friend. While he might be a little shy at first (new people are so overrated), once he warms up, he’ll be the best co-pilot for your Netflix binge sessions and snack breaks. He’s great with other dogs, so if you’ve got a pack, he’s ready to join the squad—just don’t expect him to share the remote. Recliner’s looking for a patient adopter who knows that good things (and great naps) come to those who wait. So, if you’ve got a comfy chair and an even comfier heart, Recliner’s ready to make himself at home! Here's some notes from his foster: Recliner is one sweet boy and one of our all-time favorite fosters! We’ve taken to calling him Cline for short (or should we spell it Klein?), but have no doubt that he’d get used to another name as well. He has come from a situation where he clearly didn’t get enough care, but is now loving his new life of regular meals, walks outside and comfy beds. He is house trained and a good walker, and is great with other dogs. He can be a bit shy at first but once he gets to know you will be your friend for life! We’ve never heard him bark and he’s very mellow and easygoing, and loves snoozing by your side. Whoever adopts this boy is going to be lucky to have him!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Griffon, a lively 1-year-old Border Collie mix, is searching for his forever home! He`s a loving and playful dog who adores giving kisses. He`s also a smart cookie with a lot of potential, but he needs a dedicated owner to help him navigate some challenges. Griffon can become frustrated on leash and needs training to address his mouthy behavior. He also displays some food and resource guarding. He plays well and trades toys, and with the right guidance, he will make a fantastic companion. He would be best suited for a home with older children and an owner experienced with working through resource guarding and leash reactivity.
