Meet Jingles! He is a special guy whose tail jingles a mile a minute. He is a happy fella that may have been born with or experienced some previous trauma that has led to what we think are neurological and brain function, and mild depth perception issues. He's a busy boy with a lot of motion and circling. He likes toys, loves treats!! This doesn't seem to inhibit him from loving life, and wanting to have fun! He will need to find a family that not only has experience, but are also willing to take on the quirks that make him so special. He will need to meet everyone in the family prior to adoption, and we recommend no kids, teenagers are fine. Any dogs he is to live with need to be tolerant and non reactive. Positive reinforcement training is recommended to help teach him manners, he grabs at food so some caution is needed when giving treats.

LOCATION: SANCTUARY IN WILLITS, CA. Shiro likes to play with toys, and is very smart. He is a moderately high drive dog like most herding breeds and likes activity on his terms. He likes his walks but his insecurities keep him from being a dog park dog. He bonds heavily with a particular person and sometimes a particular dog - he is IN LOVE with the dog SNOW KITTY at the Milo Sanctuary, and would follow him anywhere. Shiro is wary of strangers but is very loyal to his people and for this reason he can be protective. He needs a very predictable, low stim. home to be successful. Training and building Shiro's confidence would be key to have Shiro flourish. *Previous Notes* 5/20/17 "Shiro is a super mellow dog. He just loves to sleep all day when we are at work. He does not bark or chew anything up. He is potty and house trained and never has had an accident inside the house. He is so furry and soft and has stunningly beautiful blue eyes. Shiro loves to run around and play fetch and catch Frisbee when he is not cuddling next to you. He loves the outdoors but is not a super energetic dog. He will just sleep all day or go for a walk with you. He loves squeaky toys and will just collect them from around the house if you hide them. He is intelligent and treat motivated. He was able to learn how to sit and was learning how to stay in just a few training sessions. *Shiro has probably had a rough past. When the vet examined him, we found a pellet in his x-rays. It is probably from being shot. He bonds very well with women and is more skittish with males. He also tends to get scared of men and tries to guard his female guardian sometimes. He does not like strangers coming up to him and gets protective of his owners. He would do well with experienced owners. We are not sure how he does with kids - Milo suggests a home without children for a myriad of reasons due to his stranger danger. He is insecure and can react poorly when meeting new dogs, but usually settles in and is fine - but can take some work with him and a new dog to get past the initial snapping and jitters, running with his tail tucked. *He needs lots of love, affection, and discipline, which we were unable to provide with our busy lives." *Shiro is not a first time dog, nor a city dog. He has fairly severe stranger danger and a bite record, he has fear based aggression to dogs and people. He needs a predictable environment, and a buddy dog. Shiloh is a lovely Australian Shepherd, who sadly lost his owner. He was well cared for and loved, but he's understandably confused by all the changes. This means he takes a while to warm up, but once he does, he seeks affection and loves his walks, so he's looking for a moderately active family to adventure with! Initially, he is social and sweet with other dogs, but may become possessive of his people. This happens particularly in the home, so we think he'd do best as the only dog in the home, unless adopters have experience managing this behavior with another dog in the house. He can be a little stubborn but with ongoing training and socialization, he will grow in confidence and become the happy and balanced dog we know he can be! Shiloh can live with dog-savvy cats - he's been successfully fostered with a calm cat who doesn't run. He's also very well housetrained and sleeps on a dog bed. If you're able to offer structure, patience and an open heart, Shiloh will be sure to reward you with a deep bond that'll last a lifetime. Come by the adoption center to meet him!

Jack and Diane are a bonded pair of Aussie and maybe border collie mixes. Jack is the more energetic of the two and loves to play with his sister Diane. The siblings have been living in a loving foster home, with a resident dog and have done great! They are both house trained and do very well in a crate together. They share food well, are non-barkers, and regularly seek out attention, affections and love to be petted. Jack is working on his leash manners, but is highly trainable and improving on every walk with his amazing foster family. He's a little more curious about his environment than Diane, and shows interest in moving things like bikes and scooters. He's easily distracted from them with treats, so with more time and exposure, we expect him to become a perfect gentleman on the leash. He's a ton of fun and energy, loves to play fetch, and is super smart, having mastered the dog door on the first try! Please read what their foster family has shared with us about Jack and Diane. Jack and Diane are two Aussie and maybe border collie mixes. Jack is the energetic one and Diane is calm. But the two do play together quite intensively at times. They have both done well with my nine year old dog. Even though Jack is energetic and playful he will leave my older dog alone. They are both house trained (overnight are just fine) do very well in a medium sized crate together (settle down and are calm), are self feeders (share food very well), are non barkers, seek out attention and love to be petted. Diane seems to have been leashed trained. She walks nicely with you and doesn’t pull. She seems to have been exposed to lots of things and doesn’t react to anything while on leash. She is a bit timid at first but once she gets comfortable she wags her cute tail stub happily. Diane seems to be a bit older than Jack to me. Jack is a typical herding breed adolescent. He is a ton of fun. Loves to play fetch (we are working on drop it), very smart (only took one try and he figured out the dog door) and craves attention. I don’t think he had any prior leash training, but he is doing quite well with the sensible halter. Jack is alert to his environment and takes in everything going on around him (while Diane pays absolutely no attention to anything, she could care less.) . He does fine with cars, equipment, construction noise, chippers, leaf blowers, etc. He does show interest in things that move (bike, scooter, runners, etc) but can be easily distracted with treats. Jack also does well with other dogs that are non reactive/aggressive and can walk on by them. He will get reactive to any dog who seems threatening to him. I give him plenty of space (hide behind a car or into a driveway) and he is fine. He is improving everyday with his walking skills and is immensely better after one week. The two would love a home together. Please fill out an application to meet them.
