Hi! My name is Coco, and I am waiting to be adopted by my forever family! My siblings and I were born in Israel and found huddled together, living in terror shortly after the war started. A rescuer brought us into her home where we found love and safety. She saw that I had been injured and took me to a vet who determined that my left hind leg needed to be amputated. Thankfully, I have fully recovered and am very healthy.
One by one, my siblings found their forever homes. All except me. I am told because I am missing a leg, it will take a little longer to find that special person to adopt me even though I recovered so well and have no complications! The veterinarian says nothing is wrong with my back leg and that many tripod dogs live happy lively lives. You should see me run and play with other dogs!! I am patiently waiting for my forever family. I know you’re out there. Will you be that special person for me?
I would love to be free from the sounds of loud sirens and rockets. Lately, there have been many rocket blasts where my foster and I live. When we hear a siren, my foster has to quickly run to the nearest shelter for safety. She has two senior dogs of her own, so it is hard for her to take me as a third dog. I begin to tremble when I hear that sound and see her worried face as she closes the door, leaving me alone. I am in a complete panic when she returns. My foster always patiently calms me and tells me everything will be ok. And then it happens again and again…..
Behaviour:
Coco is very friendly, she lives here with two other dogs and a cat. Her rescuer has taken her to a trainer for the last 4 months. Coco is house-trained and walks well on a leash. She also knows how to sit, lay, and give a paw.
Because she has to rely on her three legs, she will need a home where she is not expected to go on extended hikes. Coco is mostly quiet around the house but playful with the other dogs and kids.

DoVE Project operates a shelter in South Korea, where our dogs stay until they are matched with an adopter. In the US, our dogs stay in foster homes or in boarding, as we do not have a physical facility. These dogs are identified with "in LA" in their names.
Please note that we only adopt our pups in the Southern California area. Please check our website for more information regarding our adoption process, our mission, and our adoption application: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-process
