Story
A friend of ours found this sweet boy wandering the streets as a puppy in Theodore, Alabama. We brought him into our family about a year ago, and he has been an incredible companion ever since. He’s smart, loyal, and undeniably handsome—a truly awesome dog with so much love to give. He’s got a vibrant energy and a zest for life that makes him a joy to be around. Whether it’s playing in the yard, going for walks, or learning new tricks, he’s always ready to engage and impress. However, his high energy needs a home where he can thrive with plenty of activity and attention. Unfortunately, with my busy schedule, I can’t provide the time and care he truly deserves. It’s a tough decision, but I want to find him a home where he can get the love, activity, and focus that match his incredible personality, we’re hoping to find him a home where he’ll be cherished forever.

Story
Wallace is one of our special dogs and he is seeking an extra special home. Wallace was dumped along a rural road in Milton with his housemate. Several sightings were posted on our local lost and found pages. We quickly got to work scooping out the area and trying to form a plan on catching them. Unfortunately, the night before we could get out there Wallace's friend had been hit and killed by a car. This caused poor Wallace to go into panic mode. We worked on a feed site and plans to trap him. Unfortunately, his panic caused him to run further from our feed area late one night and he was hit by a car. He was posted on the lost and found pages where we quickly recognized him and had him brought immediately to our vet. Wallace sustained injuries to both hips that required a surgical procedure called FHO. And also a dislocated front shoulder. The shoulder due to it's location and severity could not be repaired, but his body has managed to adjust and he gets around just fine with no pain or mobility issues. Just a slight limp. He moves around great, but with age he may develop some arthritis and require to be on a daily anti-inflammatory. Wallace is about 6 years old and weighs about 20 pounds. We believe he is a mini Australian shepherd mix. He is the most perfect boy. Loves to cuddle, eager to please, and is just happy to be with his people. He is housebroken and kennel trained. He has been with his current foster, who helped work on catching him for 8 months while he has recovered from his surgeries. Because of this he has bonded with her very much. He will need a patient home that understands it might take him a little longer to adjust. A home without a lot of stairs and that lets him sleep in the bed and cuddle on the couch are a must. He gets along with other dogs of all sizes and cats. Fenced in yard would be preferred as he does love to lounge in the sun on a nice day. Included in each adoption: age appropriate shots, microchip, and spay/neuter surgery. Prior to meeting or adopting any of our wonderful animals, we ask that you please fill out our online application: https://form.jotform.com/223268341300041 We are a 100% volunteer organization and have to work other jobs to pay the bills. Please give us up to 48 hours to respond. Submission of an adoption application does not obligate you to adopt nor does it guarantee approval. We look forward to hearing from you. We are located in Pensacola, Fl. Local applications considered first, but will consider out of state applications if transport can be arranged. Please note all animals in the home must be altered, up to date on vaccines, and be on heartworm prevention. We understand there are some special cases and will take those into consideration.January 26, 2025, 9:18 pm

UPDATE!!&#226&#156&#168 Meet Bonnie Lou! This sweet girl and her siblings were surrendered when their family could no longer care for them! We assisted in getting parents altered who we are told are Aussie (mom) and black lab (dad). These girls are 4 months old and Bonnie weighs 25ish and is the largest of her litter. She is spunky and playful. Full of life and personality. Highly socialized and will make a wonderful family addition. She is utd, dewormed and spayed. Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals.  All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!  Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications! Story
INCOMING!! Meet Kujo! This boy came in to the shelter last week with Momma Kitty and her 5 sweet pups. We were able to pull momma and babies to safety and finally secured a foster for Kujo and he’s headed to his foster home tomorrow. He’s an adorable Aussie mix. He’s around 2 years and 35 lbs. He was a little timid at the shelter when he first arrived but has turned into a total lovebug. He loves attention from people and passed his dog test. He will get settled into foster care tomorrow and we will update his info as it comes. We know he loves cuddles and is good on a leash. He’s utd, hw neg (tested below detectable levels) and will be neutered 1/22/25! Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained.
