This pretty pup is Lila! We call her Lila Bee and she is the sweetest! Lila is an Australian Kelpie and loves to run. She really just wants to be a lap/sofa pup and because of her temperment and that she is quiet, we think she would also be a candidate for apartment living as well, AND WE NEVER SAY THAT. Lila is apprx 35 lbs., apprx 3 years old, fully vetted, and heartworm negative. She is leash trained and knows basic obedience commands. Lila also loves to ride in the car, so she would be a great companion for people that drive a lot. If you would like more information on Lila please send us an email or message. Tinsley was extremely bonded with her mom, Teyla, but Teyla has passed away, and now Tinsley has bonded with me. She will need another dog and person that she can bond with, and she requires a fenced yard. She likes to lick my hand a lot, and follows me everywhere. Teyla and Tinsley were found on the side of CR 346 in Whitehouse, TX on 7/20/21. Teyla had a broken leg. I picked them up from the person that found them on 7/21/21, took Teyla to the Gresham Veterinary Hospital, and surgery was done on 7/22/21. She had a broken right femur, right hip fractured, and her pelvis was broke, but not displaced. We raised the donations needed for her surgery. Tinsley has high energy, so she will need a large fenced yard to work off that energy every day. She is very sweet, and plays well with other dogs. Tinsley was spayed on 8/16/21 weighing 23 pounds, and now weighs 34 pounds as of 6/21/24. She tested negative for heartworms, and has been kept on prevention. We estimate that Tinsley was born around August 2020. $90 adoption fee.November 6, 2024, 12:13 am

Let me introduce you to Dakota, one of our newer residents at the Mesquite Animal Shelter picked up by one of our officers on 6/3. He weighs 60 pounds, is about 3 years old and is neutered. He is an Australian Kelpie mix. He is a stunningly attractive fellow with standup ears, a beautiful coat, and clear blue eyes. He knows the sit and paw commands. He will sit for treats and takes them politely. He showed off his athleticism by nimbly climbing up on our play equipment. He spent some time with his nose to the ground, checking out all the fascinating smells in the yard. He chased but did not return the tennis balls I threw. He is lively, spunky, and a happy-go-lucky boy. He has an outgoing and confident personality. Being a herding breed, he tries to herd the person who is walking him. This could be an issue if adopted into a family with very small children. He is a very likable boy and highly adoptable. Dakota is friendly and was happy for me to pet his soft, silky fur that has a sheen to it! Will you consider helping him out of the shelter?

Knoel (Kno) is an active and playful boy. He came to HOT-PAWS as a stray in 2023 when we picked him up because some folks were trying to shoot him. Knoel needs a secure fence. He also needs to be in a wire crate for transport, as he will eat his way out of the plastic ones when he is tired of being cooped up. He crates okay in a wire crate and walks well on a leash. He enjoys being with people and would probably do well with a job. once trained. He will look for something to do when bored. Knoel needs a home where he can be active and playful and be around people.
