Story
This sweet dog was a drop off. We was going to keep her at our Columbia home but two dogs attacked her and tore her up. We took her to the veterinarian in Moberly. She had surgery and drained tubes. I have kept her here at my home in Moberly and she is nearly healed up. The drain tubes are all out and she's doing well. The problem is I cannot keep her. She is so sweet and teachable. She's used to being outside and running so she does not want to be kept in at this point. She has had puppies somewhere along the line. We have not got her spayed but she did get a rabies shot and she has flea protection. I don't know much about her honestly, the veterinarian said they thought she was around 18 months old and a Australian Kelpie mix. She just wants to be petted and loved all the time. She's very sweet. She has not been taught not to jump on you but she's very teachable. I'm hoping that I can keep her for at least a couple more weeks. Otherwise I do not know what I'm going to do with her.

Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption.Tracker is about 9 months old, neutered, microchipped and up to date on all necessary vetting. His adoption fee is $200.Tracker is a fun loving guy looking for his furever home! He loves playing with other dogs and would love to have a doggy sibling is his new home. He is working on his basic commands in his foster home and doing very well! Tracker is high energy and would love a family that will take him on adventures and give him lots of things to do. Homer is a 1 - 2 yr old male Kelpie mix. He has a high energy level, so he would benefit from an active family with a fenced yard and plenty of space for daily exercise and play. He is loose and wiggly when greeting, and comes when called for snuggles. He also loves to hop up into your lap for hugs and kisses. Homer does moderately pull on a leash, but with basic obedience training, he should be walking like a champ in no time! He is food motivated, and knows the command sit. He mixes well with other dogs in a kennel and is indifferent towards cats in the shelter environment. Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their own size; and dog meets with the resident dogs are always encouraged. Our cat test should be used as a general-purpose screening only to rule out overt aggression; we always recommend caution when introducing dogs to cats in the home. Recommendation on suitability of placement with children by their ages is based on behavioral observations including energy level and response to body handling. We never recommend leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and we cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats. Behavior evaluations should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog at this point in time; JHS believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog. We always encourage family to do some research on the breeds or mixes of breeds prior to adoption as many can have some unique characteristics that may or may not fit into their families. Always remember that the majority of dogs at our shelter have been exposed to or may have kennel cough. Kennel cough is contagious to other dogs, please talk to your vet if you have any questions about kennel cough prior to adoption. Please ask your adoption counselor at time of adoption if you have any unanswered questions regarding illnesses and treatments of the pet that you are adopting. Maverick is a sweet boy that likes car rides. He is a lap dog that is house trained and does well with kids. He would prefer to be the only pet in the home and needs a secure fence to enjoy a yard. One of his favorite treats is peanut butter. He also loves to play with his favorite toy..a jolly ball. Maverick is really smart and knows commands. He is neutered and current on vaccinations.
