ADMIRAL AND HIS FRIENDS WILL BE AT A MEET AND GREET/ADOTION EVENT AT PETCO IN ROSEVILLE, 2775 NORTH FAIRVIEW SATURDAY FEBRUARY 1 12:30-2:30. Come and get in some puppy cuddles. A Good Samaritan worked over a period of days to rescue three of them. Admiral was injured and needed immediate vet care, the other two needed a warm place to sleep and full food and water bowls. After bringing the three in from the cold they stayed in temporary foster homes until we could transport them to PUP in Saint Paul. Admiral is now healthy, at a good weight, and learning to be a real puppy. You can still see the results of his injuries, but they are well healed, now he just needs to grow some hair where it was shaved. He is the most outgoing of the trio and is playing happily with his siblings and the resident pooches. He is happy in his new environment but still needs work to develop trust with humans. He really wants human interaction but it is a bit scary. He has made amazing progress since his rescue in late December. The vet aged Admiral at about 15 weeks and he weighs 12#, so we expect his adult weight will be between 45-55#. We think he might be a Kelpie/German Shepherd X but that is best guess. 45-55# would be a bit big for a Kelpie, a common herding dog in the area, and small for a Shepherd, so that is probably about right. When we do DNA testing on most dogs from the area they have 20 or more breeds in their heritage. They always have some herding dog, some shepherd, some lab and nearly always some Chihuahua. We expect the same is true of Admiral. Now here is a strange one. Admiral is the smallest of the trio, but he has double rear dew claws. Only 6 purebred dogs have double rear dews and they are all giant dogs. We suspect Admiral might have 2-3% Great Pyrenees in his genetics. All three pups have unusually short tails. The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Because of Heath’s background, the need to work on socialization can not be overstate. But, face it. That is the fun part. Admiral has been vet checked, vaccinated including rabies and de-wormed. He will need at least one additional puppy vaccination at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that he be altered at 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. Welcome Dixie to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 9-month old Smooth Coated Collie/Kelpie is our best guess on breed. She weighs 50 pounds. She is very very loyal to her people and would be great with someone wanting a dog to go with you places or if you work from home and want a loyal partner. She is crate trained, potty trained, good on a leash and good in a car. She was found as a stray and her foster mom has been putting this girl through dog training. She is doing really good in her classes and is learning some more basic commands. She is a higher energy dog and would be great for a runner, jogger or hiker type person. She is lower on the shed scale. She has a lot of personality and would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. Her best home would be with a fenced yard. She could run and play off some energy. She likes you to be outside with her as she wants to be around her family over exploring the yard all along without you. She was sweet to everyone upon first meeting, despite the challenge of giving birth to 6 pups while still with her previous litter! She was a wonderful mom to the 3 surviving pups, in addition to her previous litter. Now that her pups are off to their own families, she just wants to live her best life! Rudy is quick to cuddle up and fall asleep with you, she seems very glad to be somewhere she is safe and loved and can just be herself. Rudy is a friendly, playful sweetheart who is eager to please and wants to be the best dog she can be. Rudy is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 02/08/2025 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Bumble – The Playful, Snuggly Pup! Bumble was born into rescue after his mom was saved from a tough situation. He’s been well cared for since day one and is growing into a fun, affectionate little guy. Bumble is not fully potty trained.. but what young puppy is? Potty training is all about consistency. Finding a schedule that works for both of you and sticking to it. Puppies operate on a sleep, eat, play, poop schedule. When they wake in the morning, first thing is a potty break outside.. then back inside for breakfast and a little play time. About 30 minutes after eating, take your pup back outside to do their business. Make sure that you are giving them enough time outside (15-20 minutes is usually adequate) to do their business.. puppies get distracted so easily, so try not to make this trip about playing.. just let them wander independently until they find "the perfect spot" as they say. Repeat this after their dinner, as well as letting them out to potty roughly every 4 hours throughout the day. Bumble is also not yet Kennel trained, as he has been kept with his siblings in an Ex Pen (Exercise pen). Kennel training a young dog is actually pretty simple though. Place an open kennel in the room your family spends the most time in. Feed them all their meals there as well as any high value treats. while they are in the kennel, shut the door for short periods of time.. starting at 1minute and working up to sleeping there at night. If your pup has issues settling for the night, covering their kennel with a light blanket will usually help. Like most puppies, Bumble has bursts of energy where he loves to play, chase toys, and explore, followed by long naps where he turns into the perfect lap dog. He’s goofy, sweet, and loves attention. He’s still young and learning, so basic training will help him grow into his best self. He sometimes barks when confined or when something exciting happens outside, but with time and consistency, he’ll settle into a routine. Bumble does well with kids, dogs, and even cats, so he’d fit into just about any home. He’d love a playmate but would be just as happy with humans who give him plenty of love and attention. If you’re looking for a puppy full of personality, Bumble’s your guy! Bumble is from Texas.
