Hello! My name is Joan and I was rescued with my brother John Cusack, who looks just like me. Foster mama tells us apart by our adorable tails...my brother has a short little stub while I have no tail at all! We may look alike but we have very unique personalities! I am the spunky one and very brave about exploring new things. I love to cuddle, play, and give sweet little puppy kisses. My approximate birth date is early June. At 3 months old, I weigh 8 pounds, so I will probably be a small to medium-sized dog as an adult. I'm well on my way with house training. I can hold my bladder for about 2-3 hours, and when you take me outside, I will immediately take care of my business. Foster mama says I am a funny and sweet puppy girl, and whoever adopts me will be so lucky! This sweetheart is Mia! She arrived at the shelter as a lost girl with ID on 8/6, along with her bestie, Nova. This is not their first rodeo; they've been in the shelter several times, but their family did not come for them this time. Both girls are a bit confused as to why their family deserted them, but at least they have each other, and that is comforting. Mia & Nova would love to be adopted together, and anyhow, two dogs is always better than one! Both girls are playful, affectionate, and friendly. They LOVE treats and will work for them! Mia is approximately 4 years old, and she weighs 49 lbs. She is UTD on vaccines, and she has been spayed and microchipped. Unfortunately, Mia did test positive for heartworms, but the GOOD NEWS: She has completed her heartworm treatment at the shelter and soon will be the picture of health. Dogs who are treated for heartworms usually go on to live a long and healthy life. Mia (and her bestie) are waiting in run 874; her ID # is 660890. She is shy and overwhelmed by the shelter environment, but once outside away from the noise, she is a completely different dog! Someone along the way taught Sweetie a few things because she knows how to sit and lay down nicely when asked. The volunteers describe Sweetie as a friendly, good girl. Todd Phox is an exceptionally smart and high-energy guy. We believe he is a mix of a Carolina Dog and a Cattle Dog/Heeler. He is about 1.5 years old and weighs around 45 pounds. Todd Phox is super athletic and loves to wrestle with other dogs - sometimes, he plays a little roughly, but he responds well to corrections. Both of his breeds are very energetic dogs, and Todd Phox is no exception. He absolutely loves his walks and walks very well on a leash. Are you a runner? Todd will be happy to run with you. Todd Phox is highly intelligent and enjoys training, including learning new tricks and commands. He already knows, "sit, down, and shake" and is an extremely quick study. He is also crate and house-trained. Because of Todd Phox's energy, having a fenced yard will benefit your family and Todd as it provides an outlet. But Todd Phox does know how to relax - once he is tired, he will hang out on his foster family's deck while watching over his yard or chewing on his toys, but be careful with your shoes, or he might chew those too! Because he is part Carolina Dog, he is independent and not overly affectionate. But when he wants to play, he pokes you with his nose to check on you or to engage you to play with him; he likes tug of war, fetch, and overall ball throwing, etc., and he loves to interact with his people. Todd Phox's best home is with a family without small children because he can be jumpy. But he would love to jump into your heart. Bluey's owner dropped him off at the front door of animal control and took off. Sweet little Bluey was so confused and cried out for his mom. He was quickly comforted in the hands of the animal control officer. The rescue coordinator reached out and one of our amazing foster parents went running to get him! He is settling in well and so sweet and snuggly. He loves to play and get endless belly rubs. Working on potty training and crate training. He will not last long! ##2202245##
