He is aimed to please and very food motivated, so is easy to train. Hero is friendly around adults and kids, also good with other dogs and cats; he would share his toy and food without getting into fight. He is house trained and crate trained to sleep overnight; a good rider in the car; no barking or chewing behaviors. Hero will make a great family companion pet and a good walking partner in the park or hikes! Hero’s rescue story: Hero and two siblings had been wandering in the suburban mountain area for quite a while. The chance for these young puppies to survive in the wilderness during winter time is slim. Luckily, all three fragile lives were rescued in time and then got settled in foster homes. The puppies received loving care and medical attention under foster care. Hero thrived to be a healthy and happy pup! Meet Leia!-2 year old spayed female Australian Kelpie mix (Australian Kelpie mix is simply a guess!)-Weighs 54lbs-Previously lived in a quiet home with a couple and their teenage children-Has lived with a small breed dog (maltipoo) and did well-History of enjoying the company of other dogs and playing with them-Has befriended dogs at the Shelter including her current Shelter dog friend Wyatt!-Crated when left alone in previous home-History of being house trained in previous home Leia is hanging out in a foster home to take a break from the Shelter. She is in a foster home as the only pet with a couple. They report: `We have had Leia one week. She now approaches us for affection. She loves to cuddle on the couch as well as play fetch and tag in the backyard and the house. She is very easy to walk. She sleeps with us every night. She is house trained and goes out to potty in the same spot in the yard. She has been perfect in the house, never any mischief. I have left her for 3.5 hours and she stays on her couch (her safe place). She is fine passing other dogs on a walk. She sits and shakes.`*Leia`s adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous donor*Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. Bluebell is a happy adventurous girl ready to go anywhere with you! As a 3 year old Aussie/Border Collie mix, she is energetic, curious and very intelligent. She would do best with an active family who is interested in teaching her tricks and playing puppy games. Bluebell understands basic commands such as sit, wait, lay and tricks such as spin and rollover. She is also crate trained. Bluebell has lived with cats and gets along with them well but does want to play with them. A confident cat would make a much better sibling than a shy one. Bluebell loves other dogs. She would adjust well to a doggy sibling but needs close supervision at dog parks or on doggy play dates with new dogs as she can become overly excited. Bluebell will come with all her doggy gear including a crate, toys, leash and harness. Shes a very good dog, I unfortunately just do not have the time to give her the love and attention she deserves.
