Story
Fizz the Fuzz is ready to be your adventure buddy! Periwinkle (affectionately nicknamed Fizz) is estimated to be about a year old and has the perfect amount of energy to motivate you to go out on an adventure and also convince you to spend the afternoon cuddled on the couch. She is as sweet as can be and has quickly stolen our hearts with her ray-of-sunshine personality.  She has an infectious smile and she makes sure there is never a dull moment when she is around. Fizz currently weighs around 50lbs. She is fully grown but may fill out a little as she came to us underweight. Fizz came to us from a Central California shelter after being found as a stray. She waited a month there to be adopted and then found herself on the euthanasia list due to a lack of space at the overcrowded shelter. We are so grateful one of our foster families stepped up to take her in and we have been in love with her ever since. Fizz is a happy and curious girl who loves to explore the outdoors. She loves to be out and about and makes friends everywhere she goes. She would make a great brewery and hiking buddy. She loves to play and is the goofiest girl when she finds a toy she really likes. She also is smart and eager to learn, especially if a tasty treat is involved. Fizz seems to have had some training in her previous life but would benefit from continuing to work on her basic manners to help her be the best girl she can be. Due to her busy mind and body, she tends to get into trouble when bored, so she needs a family who can provide her with lots of daily enrichment and exercise. Fizz loves other dogs and would be a great playmate for an active medium/large dog. She also could do well as an only dog if she has lots of opportunities to make dog friends. She hasn't been to a dog park, but she seems like she could do well as a dog park/doggie daycare dog. Fizz thinks cats are a little too fun to chase and would do best in a kitty-free home. Fizz has done well with kids and could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 7 years or older. Fizz has been doing great with her house and crate training. She may whine a little when she first goes in her crate but sleeps through the night well and is content to hang out in there when her foster family is gone. Fizz has done well being home alone for short periods. Due to her boisterous personality, her ideal home would be a house with a yard. Fizz is so deserving of the best home and we know it is out there. If you think that could be you, submit an adoption application today!   Fizz's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. Story
************COURTESY POST***** NOT AT THE SHELTER SEE NUMBER TO CALL BELOW***** Hello, I'm Maximus, but my friends call me Max. I celebrated my third birthday in September 2023. Max is a well-behaved pup who responds to both verbal and non-verbal commands. He's crate-trained, full of energy, and thrives when given tasks to do. We believe he's an Australian Kelpie mix with some other breed. Max walks excellently on a harness and leash. Outdoors, Max can be protective if someone approaches too closely to him or his loved ones. He grew up in a household with another older dog, birds, and children. Due to changes in our circumstances, we need to find a new home for Max. He deserves to have more freedom than an apartment can provide, especially while we're away at work. Additionally, with a baby on the way in March, we worry that Max may not adjust well to the change, as he's used to interacting with slightly older children. If you have any questions or if I've missed any important details, please feel free to reach out to me at 530-554-5091. All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Story
Saleen is one of four girls in a five puppy litter. She is a sweet girl who loves to run and play. She is the talker of the litter. Her foster Dad says she spends lots of time ‘revving her engine as a true Saleen would’ because of the fun noises she makes when picked up or playing. She does not mind playing by herself but loves to wrestle with her siblings. She enjoys sniffing around the yard, chewing on toys and laying in the shade. She is working on car rides in the crate and loves to look around when they are out and about in the shopping cart.  Saleen is very smart and loves to dig and pull at the turf in the play area. When Saleen has finally tired herself out, she heads right to the bed in the crate. She has yet to find her bark but does enjoy a good growl. She does do some whining and a small howl when she is awake and ready to get up to pee. Saleen is working on potty training outside only and alerting at the door. However, she does use a pee pad when she does not alert. Crate training to be in the crate by herself is the next progression she will be working on. Saleen does sleep in the crate overnight with her siblings currently. The foster family is also working on leash training so that it will hopefully be an easy transition in her fur-ever home.  She is very gentle and becoming more and more interested in being picked up and loved on by her foster family which includes a 3 year old. She is very patient with the 3 year old and likes to follow her around. She is not phased by the 3 month old baby when she is crying or making noises. She is semi curious of the foster families 13 year old small dog but is submissive to her when she thinks to encounter her. Saleen will do best with a family that is active and can spend lots of time working with her. She loves to be outside and exploring. She would love to have as many working jobs as possible. But best that she has at least one active job to keep her busy. She will love to have tons of places to explore and run.  Being fostered in Petaluma, CA   ##2275965##

However, she does mostly use a pee pad when she does not alert. Crate training to be in the crate by herself is the next progression she will be working on. Shelby does sleep in the crate overnight with her siblings currently. The foster family is also working on leash training so that it will hopefully be an easy transition in her fur-ever home.  She is very gentle and has always been interested in being picked up and loved by her foster family which includes a 3 year old. She is very patient with the 3 year old and likes to follow her around. She loves to greet her when she gets home from school and will try to beat her siblings to be patted first. She really enjoys checking on the 3 month old baby when she is crying or making noises. She loves to give sweet kisses and jump to be picked up. She loves to be tucked into a blanket and just relax once she has worn herself out. She is very curious of the foster families 13 year old small dog and is submissive to her.  Shelby will do best with a family that is active and can spend lots of time working with her. Story
Steve McQueen (Steve for short) is one boy of the five puppies in the litter. He is a sweet boy who loves to run and play. He is one of the larger puppies in the litter and you can tell he is going to be built just right. He does not mind playing by himself but loves to wrestle with his sisters. He enjoys sniffing around the yard and chewing on toys. He is working on car rides in the crate and loves to look around when they are out and about in the shopping cart.  Steve is super smart and has now learned to jump on the foster families outside couch so he can see more. When Steve has finally tired himself out, he heads right to the bed in the crate. He has yet to find his bark but does enjoy whining and a small howl when he is awake and ready to get up to pee. Steve is working on potty training outside only and alerting at the door. However, he does use a pee pad when he does not alert. She enjoys sniffing around the yard, chewing on toys and laying in the sun. She is working on car rides in the crate and loves to look around when they are out and about in the shopping cart.  Sally is very smart and loves to dig and pull at the turf in the play area. Story
To apply or learn more about Isco, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2023/11/2/isco Indigo is a 4 yr neutered cattle dog whippet mix (best guess) in need of a special home! Adopted as a puppy through HFP back in 2020, Indigo is looking for a quiet, calm adult home as your one and only! ✅ no separation anxiety ✅ housetrained, crate trained ✅ wonderful base of basic training ✅ smart & trainable ✅ cutest submissive grin/wiggle butt when you come home ✅ moderate activity (relaxed inside but loves to fetch and play!) ✅ doing much better at car travel He was adopted as a 4 month old puppy through HFP but sadly returned 3 years later -- he is currently in a Sacramento Foster home but is really in need of a home of his very own as his foster cannot keep him forever. More about Isco: he has a great base of training and ready to impress you with all his cues, including: Sit, Wait/Stay, Bed, Crate, Down and Off. He walks well on leash and doesn’t pull a ton. He LOVES to sniff everything during his walkies aka Sniffaris ( but doesn’t stop to mark, only sniff). He would do best in a quieter neighborhood as very busy places can make him nervous. Moderate energy -- he loves playing fetch in the backyard and a long daily walk would be ideal for Isco. In the home he is relaxed and independent. He has lived with 2 small dogs in the past and may be able to make dog acquaintances with slow intros but does not have a ton of experience with other dogs at this time. He would do best as prince of the palace as a solo dog in the home. Indigo previously lived with a cat who he loved to play with but can chase other cats, he may do well in a home with a well-matched cat friends; we ALWAYS recommend slow intros into the home/early separation for cats/dogs as they get to know one another. Indigo has the CUTEST prance and loves to play fetch. He is treat motivated which makes continued training and intros to people much more of a breeze. Housetrained, Crate Trained, around 55 lbs. Neutered, Vaccinated, Vetted, ready to be yours! Indigo adoption donation is sponsored. You might be wondering what “sponsored” means. A dog is sponsored when their foster or a donor loves them so much that they cover the adoption donation for a future adopter. This in hopes that the pup finds his or her forever family ASAP!

Story
Meet Boba, the wonderdog! Boba is just under a year old and is the epitome of a happy-go-lucky boy. He has been through so much but has remained such a ray of sunshine who loves everyone he meets. The word "stranger" isn't in Boba's vocabulary, instead, he sees everyone as a potential new BFF. Boba has blown us away with his resilience and love of life and we can't wait to see what his future holds. Boba likely is fully grown and weighs about 41lbs. Due to being a tripod, his new family will need to ensure he stays slim to avoid any unnecessary weight on his front leg. Boba came to us from a local shelter when his previous family surrendered him after he came into the shelter as a stray. He was found with a broken leg that had healed incorrectly and it was determined that the best thing was to have the leg amputated. Boba has adjusted very well to being on three legs and doesn't let it stop him from doing lots of zoomies. Boba is the perfect mix of cuddly and active and is pretty much happy to do whatever as long as he can be by your side. His favorite activities include tug-of-war, playing tag with his foster sister, or throwing a toy around for himself to play with. He is an expert cuddler and is happy to lay his entire body on top of you for nap time. Boba radiates happiness and it's pretty impossible not to have a smile on your face when he's around. Boba has been doing great with his basic manners but is still a puppy who can get mouthy when excited. He also isn't afraid to vocalize when he wants attention or someone to play with him. He would benefit from some continued training to help him be the best boy he can be. Boba has done get with all the dogs he has met and would be a great buddy for someone looking for a playmate for their active pup. His best friend is a little chihuahua/terrier mix and he has done great mellowing his playstyle to match hers. Due to his puppy antics, he probably wouldn't be a good fit to live with an older dog unless there was another active dog for him to play with. Boba has done well with dog-savvy cats but does think it's a fun game to chase them if they run. He likely could do well living with confident cats with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Boba has also done well co-existing with the chickens in his foster home. Boba could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years or older. Boba has been doing great with his house and crate training. He sleeps in his crate at night and has done well being left home alone in his crate for a few hours at a time. Since he is so people-oriented, he would do best with a family who doesn't have to leave him alone often or for long. Boba has done well living in an apartment with plenty of daily exercise. Boba was born with a heart defect called  pulmonary stenosis. He was evaluated at UC Davis and had a procedure called a balloon valvuloplasty done. Boba recovered very well from the procedure and the cardiologist thinks he has a very high chance of living a normal life post-op. Boba will need to continue to receive twice daily medication for his heart until he is reevaluated in 3 months. He will need yearly check-ups with a cardiologist for the rest of his life to ensure his heart remains healthy. He will never be a doggie athlete, but he can live a life full of adventure and can still do normal activities like running and playing. Boba is such an amazing dog and we have all fallen head over heels in love with him. We know his perfect family is out there! If you think that might be you, submit an adoption application today!   Boba's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application.
