Story
Oliver came into rescue with Negan. They had both been with their owner since puppyhood but she did not feel that they were able to give them the attention they needed due to their current lifestyle and thought it would be best to see if they could find the boys a more suitable home. The boys had been kenneled in the most recent months but have also lived inside although they are not fully housebroken or crate trained. We have been working on that with them but they will need continued training from their adoptive homes until they get on a consistent routine/schedule. Both boys were, initially, a bit scared coming into rescue and leaving everyone and everything they ever knew but they have settled in nicely. They both get along with other dogs and kids. They were originally around cats in their previous home but we are not sure how long it has been since they have had direct contact with them and we do not have cats here so we can't say if they would still do fine with them. Probably with a slow, proper introduction, they would be fine. Oliver is a double doodle (aussiedoodle & labradoodle). Oliver is very independent but is friendly and intelligent Oliver does do pretty well in the house. We havent observed any bad behaviors other than origjnally marking but that has died down/ceased after we had him neutered. He seems to prefer being outside, exploring and playing with the other dogs most of the time. He will go into a crate on his own sometimes if the crate door is left open and doesn't seem to mind being in one. Oliver walks OK on a leash once he gets going but he it isn't his favorite thing. He rode well to the vet but hasn't taken any long trips with us so not sure how he would do on a long trip. Because Oliver is a doodle, he will require regular grooming to keep his coat from matting and to keep him looking his best. You can either opt to groom yourself or take him to a professional. His former home clipped him down to keep his coat more manageable but it will grow back so if you are thinking he doesn't look much like a doodle right now, it's because he was shaved down. Oliver is very sweet and gentle natured but more of an aloof boy than his polar opposite, Negan, and we feel that he would be a wonderful companion for pretty much any home. Oliver saw the vet on 2/10/25 and was found to an ear infection and he was given Claro Otic in both ears to treat. He has been started on Simparica Trio for flea control and heartworm prevention. He tested negative for heartworms but he did test positive for hookworms on his fecal so we have given him a Drontal for the intestinal parasites. He may need a follow up in 3 weeks. Oliver weighed 37.1 pounds as of 2/10/25. If interested in giving Oliver his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Oliver's adoption fee will be $400 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us. We will only consider applicants who complete the adoption application and will determine whether the applicant would be a good fit for Oliver based on the info provided in the application. If we feel that you will be a good match for him, we will set up a meet and greet appointment with you.
