Story
Meet sweet Penelope. Penelope is an 11 month old, 47 lb Aussiedoodle pup that is sweet natured and on the shy side. She needs to learn how to be a dog so a home with another dog will definitely help Penelope come out of her shell! She is quiet and not a big barker. Penelope is great with children, dogs of all sizes and cats. Penelope is house-broken and crate trained. She was surrendered by someone that did not have the the time to train her otherwise so she is not yet used to a leash, therefore her new family should be ready to help her learn this skill. Interested in becoming Penelope’s forever home? For immediate consideration, please fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we DO NOT go any further without an application. If there are multiple dogs that you are interested in, please fill out an application for each dog. This does not include bonded pairs, one application will be fine. We have different adoption coordinators working with different dogs, and your application may be missed if you only apply once. We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and the perfect forever home for our dogs. We appreciate you working with us. Our adoption fees cover spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Story
This handsome poodle mix is approx 3 years and 40 lbs. He was found laying in a ditch unable to move and taken to the local city shelter in Houston TX. His x rays showed that his sacrum had separated from his Lumbar Spine, he also had a bullet in him, but they did not feel that it was affecting his ability to walk, Our orthopedic surgeon said it was an injury that was unable to be repaired. We started him on some physical therapy and after a few days he was able to stand up and while his back legs remained crossed he was able to hop around the yard We started him on a rehab program with the Gulf Coast Physical Therapy and after a few weekly sessions, he is able to run around the yard like the other dogs!! The legs are now uncrossed and he hops with his back legs, he has started to walk at times like a normal dog and we are hoping with some more underwater treadmill sessions that he will continue to improve. He will go out to the yard with the other dogs to urinate etc but at night only he cannot control himself and he sleeps in a crate with a puppy pad or a belly band. He is a sweet boy, he loves to be with people, he gets along with the other rescues but does not like big active dogs and will bark and chase them. We had a special cart made for him so that he can go on long trips around the neighborhood or to the dog park etc.. he still prefers to hop on his own, but it works great for when he gets tired. we do have videos avail for anyone interested in adopting him, he does have some urine staining on his back legs and body and most of it will come out when he gets a bath, but he is not perfect and an owner will need to give him weekly baths. OUR RESCUE POLICY - It is our rescue policy for all our dogs that we require a home with no children under the age of 8, and experienced dog owners only. WE REQUIRE VET RECORDS ON YOUR CURRENT OR PAST DOG FOR OUR REVIEW. RECORDS MUST SHOW THE POTENTIAL ADOPTER AS THE OWNER The total adoption fee of $500 ( and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, distemper and canine influenza, and microchip. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. We also provide a free wellness visit to the South Wilton Vet group if convenient for you. WE SHIP OUR DOGS WITH MIGHTY MUTT SHIPPING TO THE NORTH EAST , THE ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES THE TRANSPORT This sweet little girl is approx 18 months old and 17 lbs,she is a little on the shy side to start but warms up pretty quickly, she lives to play and wrestle with her buddies and loves treats, she has a lot of energy and will need a fully fenced in and secure yard and a companion dog to keep her company, she loves people and loves to eat, she has a very sweet disposition and gets along with everyone she meets , she seems to be pretty well house trained, but not perfect and could still do with some leash/harness training, she was very matted and her coat overgrown when we found her and she had to be shaved down, her coat will grown back to be very pretty.. we did a Dna test on her and she was a mixture of 19 different breeds, including poodle and yorkshire terrier and 17 others !! we only adopt to experienced dog owners and no children under the age of 10 years IF INTERESTED THERE IS AN APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE https://www.houstonshaggydogrescue.org The total adoption fee of $400 ( also includes ,spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, distemper ,canine influenza, and microchip.
