Meet Gwen, the adolescent standard poodle. Gwen came to the Shelter with her “friend” Giovanni A318038 as strays so we do not know about their life before the Shelter. Staff have observed that Gwen is soft and social with people, easy to leash up and take out. She got along well with Giovanni but has been selective in her interactions with other dogs at the Shelter. This may be related to Shelter stress or Gwen may just not be interested in being every canine’s BFF. Gwen is working on house training and may need some patience in the transition to her adoptive home while picking up new life skills and manners. Now through February 15th, we are hosting “Adopt Your Valentine” where adoption fees are reduced to $50. The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter and microchips. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
