Story
Intake Reason: Transferred from a shelter in Texas-Weight: Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Unknown ·Kids: Unknown ·Personality: Greetings, I am a gorgeous and lively youngster who is looking for a family who is familiar with my breed and our adorable idiosyncrasies. I am a sensitive girl who will need a patient person who employs consistent and positive training techniques. My ancestors were bred to guard livestock and needed to work independently all through the night. It is not uncommon for dogs like me to have nocturnal tendencies and patrol the house at night simply to do perimeter checks and make certain all is well. I am rugged, agile and athletic; I will need exercise each day to keep me at my best. I weigh about 45 pounds now but have plans to get larger; some Anatolians tip the scales near 100 pounds. Since I am young, there are many things that I have not yet experienced so I will be counting on you to safely introduce me to lots of new things, places and people to allow me to grow into a confident pooch; I would like to gain some self-assuredness. Perhaps we could take some classes together while I am relatively small so I can practice obedience and manners; they would also be fabulous opportunities for socialization. Lots of socialization at an early age will be a must and help me blossom into the best dog ever. I can have a smidge of a stubborn streak so I will need you to be dedicated, calm, understanding and encouraging. Although I am a puppy, I am not your typical crazy, maniac youngster; I am mostly laid-back, mellow and gentle. When out for a walk I do enjoy having my nose to the ground to investigate the world around me. I will be counting on you to consistently use a leash when I am outside until I have flawless recall; if I get startled by something my reaction may be to run off. I would do better in a rural environment since my purpose in life is to alert you to everything that moves; you can't fault a gal for doing her job. It would be lovely to have outlets to keep my mind busy and engaged; it would be fun to try nose work, play with brain teaser toys or use a foraging mat at mealtime. I will be a loyal and loving companion forever and a phenomenal dog for the right family who knows how spectacular an Anatolian Shepherd can be.#1
