Story
Come meet adoptable dogs every Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM - 4 PM at our Adoption Center located at 11116 Fairfax Station Rd. Fairfax Station, VA 22039. We can also schedule time to meet a specific dog at the Adoption Center during the week by appointment - just fill out the application and we will follow up with you! For animals in foster homes, please submit an online application and a member of our Adoptions team will reply with next steps. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our dog adoption questionnaire and e-mail it to: barroso.selma@gmail.com Sudi is a super amazing dog from Iran , where she endured horrible cruelty that we cannot even begin to fathom. As a working farm dog, when she did not perform to her owner's satisfaction he cut off her front paws, dragged her behind a car and hit and kicked her. How she lived we do not know. But thankfully, an Iranian loving person rescued her and through a lot of hard work, Sudi left Iran for Canada and then made her way to us here at Homeward Trails. She recently was fitted for prosthetic feet and is doing remarkably well in them, getting a new lease on life that allows her to be more mobile. While we thought she may need hip surgery to replace her hip socket, we are currently waiting on that per her veterinarian orthopedist's suggestion to have a specialist determine if it is workable. For now, she remains on pain meds and steroids to address the issue, which may end up being her long-term solution. Sudi needs an adoptive family. She is great with all people but does not like other animals enough to live with them. It may be her low-level pain or fear but we have tried and we now know she wishes to be an only animal. This girl is a truly remarkable example of endurance and spirit. That she even trusts humans at all after what has been done to her is truly, truly inspiring. She will do best in a home with few stairs - or least a home where she can get inside/outside without many. She would love a yard where she can lounge in the sun. Whatever orthopedic issues come her way in the near future in terms of surgery will be covered by Homeward Trails. We are proud to partner with the following veterinarians who offer a free first exam for your animal, exclusively for HT adopters: Caring Hands Animal Hospital, Palisades Veterinary Clinic, Sunshine Animal Hospital and Clarendon Animal Care and all VCA Animal Hospitals. Additionally, any VCA hospital will cover illnesses up to $250 at no cost to any Homeward Trails adopter. We also provide free online workshop with a professional dog trainer at Fur-Get Me Not within the first 30 days of adopting - just for HT adopters in the Arlington/Alexandria/Falls Church/DC area. Start your new dog out on the right foot with this valuable, expert guidance FREE! You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. Story
Here is a sweet boy who is doing well in a foster home. He is house trained with a doggy door but will need to be taught a different routine if there is no door. He does well with cats and other dogs. He does like to jump so small kids will need to be careful. He must be kept busy as he does like to chew and have things to do. He does appreciate sleeping on a human bed but is fine on a dog bed also. He does well on a leash and on car rides. He is just a big sweet boy who is needing a family who can keep him occupied (farm, walks, outdoor activities, etc....) He just wants his forever family and we know there's one out there.

APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application/ We must have an application to move forward. (Shayne's Rescue is an affiliate with PetCentralSATX). If there are problems with the website, please email me for help. ABIGAIL is an Anatolian Shepherd mix. She is about 75# and 3 yrs old. Abigail has some fuzzy hair with a beautiful fluffy tail that curls over her back when she’s playful. She is house trained and crate trained. She has no interest in cats and is particularly fearful of farm animals. She has not been around farm animals while growing up. In the process of testing her with all the animals, the donkey was the scariest and the noise the pigs made were frightful. After a half an hour walking among the farm animals she became much more curious about them and calm…even with the donkey. Abby and her sister, Amelia, are great dogs and if you like them large these 2 dogs are gentle and quiet yet affectionate. YOU CAN’T HAVE A BETTER DOG! Her temperament is calm, sweet, and adaptable. Abigail has an allergy to Chicken so she is kept on a Blue Buffalo Lamb kibble. She also needs to go outside every 6-7 hours to do her business. This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. If you have any questions or would like an e-mail from us as to how all of this works, text me (Terry); identify the dog's name and give me your email address... 210-394-6060. You can also go to our Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/Pet-Central-SATX-866684826744181/ and LIKE us to help us out. After we review your application, we will contact you, and you'll have the opportunity to find out more from the rescue. If you experience any issues filling out the application you can contact us directly at petcentralsatx@gmail.com. This is ONLY if you have problems applying. If you have not applied, you will not receive a response so please only email if you have any issues applying. Adoption Fees The adoption fee includes transportation to the NE. All pups and dogs are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, have a negative heart worm test for all dogs over 6 months at time of transport, have a health certificate, and have all age-appropriate vaccinations. Some dogs/pups have additional medical, including but not limited to FHO, ACL, hernias, dental, and other vetting. All medical records will be provided to the adopter at the time they pick up their dog. This is a post on behalf of Pet Central SATX Rescue, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, where there are over 350,000 homeless pets. We have hundreds of puppies/dogs available so there really is no need to apply anywhere else. Also, one application is good even if you are interested in several different dogs...one application no matter which one you choose. Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue pup/dog. We firmly believe there is NO breed other than "rescue" for all species. Thank you for being part of the village it takes to save these precious lives.

Story
Winston and Phoebe are beautiful Anatolian shepherd mixes that have pretty good size paws. These puppies were dumped in somebody’s driveway in the country, where they sat all night, waiting for someone to find them. Winston and Phoebe currently weigh 40-44 lbs as of 11/16/24 – We estimate they will be around 55-70 lbs once full grown. These 2 are just as friendly as sweet as can be. When the owner of the home they were dumped at walked outside, they ran up to the owners, tails wagging and tongues out. They LOVE to kiss you and be right next to you. Winston and Phoebe are gentle giants. They are not crazy puppies, but they do love their playtime. Give them toys and they put them in their mouths and run all over the house and yard with them. They LOVE their toys. They can entertain themselves, but they prefer a play buddy (whether it’s an adult, child or other doggy) These gorgeous pups have been introduced to small and big dogs and get along great with both! They look up to other dogs for more confidence but would be great in a home with or without other dogs. Winston and Phoebe adore kitties. They love to cuddle with them in the beds and hang out with them. Inside or outside cats, no issues at all. They may even prefer cat siblings! They LOVE kids! They would prefer children over boring adults any day. They have the goofiest and friendliest personalities. Winston and Phoebe also love water – they would make great adventure buddies. They love to explore and are very curious pups. They catch on quickly to everything you’re doing and will follow you around to watch you. These 2 pups will bring joy, love and laughter into your and your family’s life. Please consider adopting today. _______________________________________________________________________________ If you would like to adopt this doggy/puppy, please complete an application on our website: www.pawsitive-impact-animal-rescue.org This animal is healthy, spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, current on preventions, dewormed and microchipped. A certificate of health is issued from a vet prior to transport.
