Story
Let me introduce you to the warm, gentle soul we call Josie. She has eyes that quietly say “tell me all about it, I’m here to listen” and her presence is just as comforting. She can come off a touch shy when you first meet here but just because she isn’t clamoring for your attention. Josie isn’t the pushy type, she is quiet presence, like a long-time best friend. Josie has all the traits of an adoring, loyal dog and she is ready to come home.
It’s no surprise, my favorite thing about Josie is how easy her company is. She is slow and steady in every area, whether it is with people, on-leash for a walk, with dogs, or meeting a house cat. She is, quiet company that just feels comfortable. Her demeanor and look lead us to believe she is an Anotolian shepherd mix, approximately 1 year old and she currently weighs 51 lbs, a number that surprised us given her long legs-turns out her size is mostly fluff. Breed and age are details we cannot offer 100% certainty on given the nature of her being a rescue . She may grow a smidge more but she is essentially her full grown size. Perfect midsize in our opinion. Take a look at her video to get a better view of her gorgeous ease then come back to read more! https://youtu.be/Z0Scm2htm5s
Initially when we met Josie we thought she was not interested in other dogs. She was polite meeting them but didn’t engage or reciprocate invitations to play. Within a couple days of her settling in she showed us that same polite approach with dogs along with a very adorable, bouncy approach with dogs. The cutest thing is that even if they do not want to play, she will bounce off on her own to go find a ball or a toy. That is the side of dogs that come across as shy or reserved, they often are innately self-entertaining and perfectly content in their own company. The other beautiful side of watching Josie’s personality emerge is that she has also been able to help other dogs feel comfortable to do the same. Because she is calm and polite and reliably understanding of other dogs, she has become a dog that we can bring in to help under socialized or scared dogs, open up. Her presence seems to have a comforting effect and on more than a few occasions she has helped our team earn the trust of an otherwise scared or shut down dog. Dogs like Josie are always so appreciated for that peaceful and warm quality. As she has met more and more dogs it has been easy to see that her best connections are with dogs that have a calm presence but a playful energy without being pushy. Many pushy dogs have tried to get her to play by bouncing in her face and pawing at her, she is tolerant of it but has yet to take the bait. She enjoys the company of other dogs and has been an easy addition to any playgroup she has been in, with her best buddy right now being a slightly smaller male who lets her initiate play and is eager to bounce around as soon as she does. In addition to being dog friendly, Josie was respectful with our resident house cat, she barely even noticed he was in the room despite him meowing and being right at her level. Once she realized, she very calmly approached to sniff him and then she moved on, not even bothering to go back once he got up and started moving around. From what we saw Josie would make a peaceful addition to a home with feline friends.
Josie would easily live in a home with a yard to stretch those long legs, while also having potential as an apartment girlie. Her quiet presence and size are apartment ready, and she has the leash skills. She may need some sweet talk and treats to build her confidence in busy areas but given her age and approach to new experiences we have confidence Josie will transition smoothly into a variety of homes. A house with a yard, or an apartment with regular walks, a loving home, a canine-companion or maybe even a feline friend… Josie is ready to quietly take on discovering the world with you by her side.
If you can guard her gentle heart, she promises to help calm you from whatever the day could throw at you, fill you up with love, sweetness and loyalty in return. Looks, charm, and a golden-good heart, that’s Josie and she is ready and available to be your girl!

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.
Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!
Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.
While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
