He was found alone with his sister after their mother went missing. We can’t say what happened to their mother, and we can’t say what they went through when left alone — but we can say that Koya is the best brother to his sister, Kita. Within just a few days, Koya has made great progress in his behavior and trust toward humans. At first, he was terrified to walk, but now he walks on a leash and runs around with his sister. He might be reserved at first, but with some patience and care, he’ll warm up to you and start asking for pets by pawing you with his paw. He might even play a little game of the “zoomies” with you once he's comfortable. Koya also loves to play with toys, especially stuffies. This boy was forced out of his home where he was a protector of an elderly couple. Their land lord got notice of the dog and told them he had to go or they would be evicted. We had room at our shelter so took him in to keep him from being euthanized at that time. Large dogs do not adopt out well in our area. So if a decision ever has to be made to make room, he will be the one that has to go. He has been around kids and loves them. He will make someone a great dog that has room for him to play as he is a large dog. He loves to play with the water hose, other dogs, and toys as well. He is also microchipped.
