Story
We adopted Whiskey to have to guard our small backyard livestock this past summer but we just don’t have the time to work with him. The shelter said he was picked up as a stray but he clearly hasn’t a stray. We think he may have been used to round up larger livestock bc he will play with a ball just like a kid playing soccer. He’s already been neutered, microchipped, and UTD on shots. He’s the sweetest but would knock a small child down by excitedly jumping.

Story
Bane is an Anatolian Shepherd and Karakachan mix. He is 8 months old, fully house-trained and crate trained. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm preventative, and flea and tick preventative. He is a very sweet dog who loves pets and cuddles and has no clue how large he is. He is great with children, likes to chase cats but does not hurt them, and is good with other dogs. Our other dog is older and does not have the energy that Bane has. He wants to play and she wants to be left alone. These two breeds are LGD's and it is imperative that he be socialized as these are protective breeds who take their job very seriously. He is a complete marshmallow with his family, but will alert to strangers and warn them if they get too close. Please research these breeds first if interested and unfamiliar.

Story
Im Lucy still new here at the shelter that is but Im Definitely an older girl to the dog ages. Walking on leash is a breeze of course I have been doing it for sometime now.I came in with my little dog friend so if you have other dogs it’s not a problem for me at all.I rather not stay here long could you find it in your heart to rescue me and maybe my friend too? Please call the shelter at (706) 795-2868 to schedule a meet and greet.Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a non-profit shelter serving over 720 square miles. We are open intake, meaning we can not turn away animals from either county we serve. Our shelter intakes double or triple it's capacity every month so it is essential we place animals quickly into adoptive homes. Since so many animals enter the shelter we often don't have enough volunteers to write an individual bio for each. Please feel free to call the shelter Wednesday-Sunday to inquire about the animal you are interested in. 706-795-2868.Viewing and adoption hours at our shelter are Wednesday through Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM. All adoption fees include age-appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, deworming, and spay or neuter, microchip, and adoption packet. Fees:Dogs over 6 months old: $100Puppies under 6 months: $200. Cats and Kittens are $75 ($65 without microchip). For your convenience you can fill out an adoption application for any of our current residents at www.moaspets.com. We are located at:1888 Colbert Danielsville Rd Danielsville, GA 30633 706-795-2868NOTE: Our adoptions are first come first served, simply filling out an application does not mean the animal will be held for you, you must come meet the animal in person in order to be considered for adoption. If you rent you must bring your lease or a letter from your landlord stating you may adopt.

AGE: Approx 2.5yrsWEIGHT: 110lbsWORKING LGD:  NO - family pet only DOGS:  GoodDOG RESTRICTIONS:  NO Large or XL males CATS:  UnknownCHILDREN: UnknownOTHER ANIMALS (birds, farm animals, etc): Unknown FENCED YARD REQUIRED:  Yes - 6ft GOOD OFF LEASH:  No - ROAMER/RUNNER GROOMING/SHEDDING NEEDS:  HighMEDICAL ISSUES: light heartworm positive - rescue will provide continued treatment to adoptive family MEDICATIONS: Calming drops SPECIAL NEEDS: Severely abused. Will require patience and committment. Zero aggression - A very kind dog ANXIETY:  Very afraid of people and will run and/or hide. Afraid of storms but just wants to be with you.BARKING:  High - Extremely LOUD EXPERIENCED OWNER NEEDED:  Yes CRATE TRAINED:  Yes but will break out HOUSE TRAINED:  Yes GOOD IN CAR:  Yes.  FUN FACTS: Theo was severely abused. Upon entry into rescue he hid in a corner, back to us, and shook hard. He's come a long way, however, and does well on his calming drops. He loves his foster family, but he is still a timid guy and afraid of new people. He will require commitment, devotion, and patience. He will not be a dog that is snuggly and kissy or wrapped up in his new family, due to his need to learn to trust. He will take a significant amount of time to learn and to establish acceptance of his new life but he is SO worth it. Theo is a VERY KIND and GENTLE dog with a soft, loving heart. He has absolutely ZERO aggression. He's also highly intelligent. He requires a 6ft fence for playtime and to be on a leash at ALL times when not in the fenced area due to his fears and his breed - NO EXCEPTIONS. He will also need someone who can handle his strength for times when he might be afraid on a leash. *Note that he is probably not full grown at 103lbs. Theo loves his canine companions and would be unhappy in a home without other dogs, but he will need gentle introductions just b/c he'll be afraid. He loves to play and highly depends on his canine friends. Theo LOVES treats and food, and he is very mild mannered when taking them from you. He loves his morning and evening treat and runs to the kitchen and sits handsomely when he knows it's time. He's a fun boy with a tremendous smile, and he also talks similar to a Husky at times. Theo is devoted to those he loves and appreciates their kindness. He is a lovely boy with an innocent and very sweet disposition. ##1311506##
