Story
Hiya everyone! My name's Montana, and if you're looking for a friend to adventure with, I may just be the perfect fit!I'm a very playful pup, and I love toys of all kinds! Stuffed animals are my favorite - I love to carry one around with me on walks. I'll show you when we meet!Romping in the yard is fun, but I'm also having a blast on the OHS running team! My friends here think I would do great with an active family that can provide me with lots of outlets for my energy. Let's check some hikes off your bucket list! After I've gotten my energy out, I love to cuddle up with my favorite humans. Who doesn't want hugs and kisses from an adorable dog?I've had fun playing with other dogs here at the shelter. I do best with larger dogs, my playstyle may be too much for smaller dogs. If you have a canine friend in your home, I'd love to meet them at the shelter.Guess what else? I am part of the Diamond in the Ruff program, which you can learn more about here.. Basically, we'll get to spend plenty of time together before you officially adopt me! I'd love to get to know you - maybe you'd like to get to know me too? Then come stop by and meet me! Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: White Weight: 60.2 Age: 1yrs 7mths 3wks

Reese is the total package—sweet, happy, and full of love! This beautiful girl adores hugs, belly rubs, and being close to her people. She has great leash manners, making walks a breeze, and strikes that perfect balance between playful energy and laid-back couch potato vibes. Reese gets along with everyone she meets and does wonderfully with other dogs, making her an easy addition to just about any home. She came into rescue pregnant and did an amazing job raising her puppies—now that they’ve all found their forever homes, it’s finally her turn. Reese is more than ready to be someone’s baby, soaking up all the love she’s been giving. Could she be your perfect match? Story
COTTAGE GROVE, OREGON: PET HOME ONLY Please review Bosco's bio before reaching out. Bosco is a 4-year-old neutered male Anatolian Shepherd in need of a new home as a pet. He was originally raised as a livestock guardian and is trustworthy with livestock and poultry. However, he has no interest in guarding animals. Bosco is easy-going and has a very steady temperament. Although he has not lived full-time indoors, he adapts well to indoor environments and clearly desires to be part of a family. Please note that he is not guaranteed to be fully house-trained due to limited indoor living, but he exhibits good house manners when indoors. Bosco is good with children, non-dominant dogs, visitors, and cats when properly introduced. He is not a nuisance barker, only alerting when necessary. If he were to escape from fencing due to boredom or lack of interaction, he would seek people and attention rather than roam or run off. Therefore, he requires a home where he will be included and engaged. Bosco is good on a leash and enjoys going for walks. He is currently being worked with daily on basic commands and is progressing well. However, he will require continued training. He rides okay in vehicles but does not find it enjoyable. Bosco is current on vaccines and microchipped. We are seeking a responsible and committed home for Bosco. An application, references, and phone conversation are required. We prefer in-state adoptions, but out-of-state adoptions will be considered for the right home. Please message for more details about Bosco's temperament, history, and compatibility.

Story
This boy is huggable, lovable, big and fluffy, and quietly charming… This is Scotch. Go watch him in action on YouTube, then come right back, because this gentle giant has more to share than just his obvious good looks. https://youtu.be/-6Vq1Fo9u2E Scotch appears to be an Anatolian Shepherd / Great Pyrenees mix, is estimated to be 3 year old, and he weighs about 65 lbs. As always with rescue, breed and age are our best guess, but his personality? That part is crystal clear, and it’s a really lovely one. He is currently fostered in a loving home where he’s been nothing but friendly and playful with the resident dog. He loves his dog bed, enjoys his toys, rides well in the car, and is always happy to accept a treat (or two… or three). He’s the kind of dog who settles into home life with an easy rhythm and a soft presence. Out on leash, Scotch is truly a dream. Multiple people have commented on how naturally he walks, staying close, checking in, and leaning in for a little affection like he’s known you forever. A recent dog walker even said he reminded her of a past dog she loved dearly, and that’s exactly the kind of quiet impact he has on people. With other dogs, Scotch is social, confident, and respectful. He’s done well with dogs of all sizes and reads cues beautifully. When a smaller dog asked for space simply because Scotch’s size was intimidating, Scotch politely backed off without hesitation. Scotch’s foster shared what we had seen during playgroups- he enjoy a more playful, rough-and-rowdy style of play. He would love a home with a doggie-bestie and would do best with a medium-energy dog who enjoys that same kind of fun. Scotch was introduced to our house cat and shows signs that he could live peacefully with a feline friend. He showed mild curiosity but was overall respectfully cautious. With slow introductions, a dog-savvy cat, and proper management (like a drag leash), he may be able to coexist, but if you are interested and have a cat(s) we are happy to arrange a sleepover with our Kitty Comittee to get a better view on it. Because of his size and playful nature, Scotch would likely do best in a home with slightly older kids, 5+ who will enjoy him tagging along and jumping into the fun. He woulld thrive in a home with a yard but has potential living apartment life with the right space and regular outings. He’d make a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys walks, hikes, or simply having a steady, easygoing presence by their side. If you’re looking for a gentle giant with a thoughtful heart and a perfectly playful side, Scotch is your guy! The perfect blend of soft, steady, and playful, this is a dog that is ready and waiting to grow into your life seamlessly and perfectly! Window-down certified, calm and unbothered by the world around her... this is Sally. She has an easy presence, is happy to be included, never makes a big fuss about it, and somehow still ends up being everyone’s favorite part of the day. Go watch Sally on YouTube then come right back to read more about this sweet, steady girl. https://youtu.be/uh_GrKOtFTs Sally is estimated to be around 5 years old, weighs 75 lbs, and appears to possibly be an Anatolian Shepherd and Great Dane mix. As always with rescue, breed and age are our best guess. What we do know for sure is that she is calm, easygoing, and deeply committed to the simple things in life- a car ride with the windows down, a tasty treat, a little sweet talk, and a soft spot to relax. She is fostered with other dogs and does just fine around them, but Sally is not looking for a booked social calendar. She greets new dogs politely, keeps it short and sweet, and then goes right back to focusing on what really matters... namely peace, comfort, and perhaps a snack. She would be perfectly content as your one and only, but also enjoys the company of easy-going, relaxed dog friends. Inside the home, Sally settles in beautifully. She is quiet, easy company, and has a wonderful sense of her size, which is always appreciated with larger dogs. She feels like the kind of dog who understands how to live with people in a way that is gentle and natural. No chaos, no constant demands, just a lovely steady presence by your side. And if you needed even more proof that she is a gem, Sally recently spent time with a 5-year-old and was an absolute perfect lady. She was gentle taking treats, listened to commands, and calmly held a front row seat for an impromptu three-minute cartwheel routine. Honestly, it was giving proud Grandma vibes and we loved seeing it. Sally would be such a beautiful fit for a home where life moves at a softer pace. A home with kind people, regular visitors who know how to appreciate a good dog, and a rhythm that leans cozy instead of chaotic. She is not here to turn your world upside down. She is here to make it better, calmer, and a little more charming one slow afternoon together at a time. If you are looking for a dog with a gentle spirit, easy manners, and always ready to take shotgun, Sally is your girl. Story
Mac and his siblings found themselves at a small rural shelter with no foot traffic so we got them out. Mac is curious and independent and loving and adventurous. He loves water and he spends most of his day exploring the woods and ponds on the property. He is super smart too. His siblings are all fluffier than he is and look more shepherd like than he does. He has more of a heeler look in terms of coloring and shape but based on their sizes and their growth since I got them, I believe they will be big dogs. Big, happy, friendly, loving dogs. He is about 4 months old. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) - Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, too young for a heartworm test.
