Story
Hi there! I’m Goliath, a 2-year-old Anatolian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees mix, tipping the scales at a solid 89 pounds of love, loyalty, and quiet strength. Don’t let my size intimidate you—I’m a gentle giant with a calm, easy-going personality. I’m happiest when I’m spending time with my people, whether we’re going for walks, enjoying a peaceful car ride, or just lounging together at home. I’m a little shy when I first meet new people, but with a little patience and love, I’ll quickly warm up to you and become your most devoted companion.I’m great with kids, the elderly, other dogs, and even cats, so I’m pretty adaptable and can fit into a variety of homes. I’m a quick learner and already know some basic commands like “sit” and “no,” and I’m always eager to learn more, especially if there’s a tasty treat involved! I’m fully housetrained and know how to use a doggie door, which makes me pretty independent when it comes to going in and out. While I do enjoy spending time outdoors, I’m also content to come inside at night and curl up with you for some quiet time.Having spent plenty of time around livestock like goats and chickens, I’m naturally inclined to help with herding, and I once helped guide some chickens into their coop without any formal training. I take guarding my family very seriously, and while I’m not loud or intrusive, I’ll always be on alert and ready to protect the ones I love.Though I enjoy having some space to roam and explore, I’m just as happy to relax by your side, stretching out on the couch, or snuggling up next to you for some quality bonding time. I’m looking for a family who can provide me with the love, attention, and space I need to thrive. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and intelligent companion who will be your protector and best friend, then I may be just the dog for you. I can’t wait to meet you—let’s see if we’re a perfect match! You can also call the shelter at 479-394-5682 to find out more about me.****************All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If not already spayed/neutered, there may be a short delay between when you select this pet and when they are ready to go home.Breed and age are determined based on observable physical traits. Actual lineage and birth date are rarely known.Adoption Fees:-$60 for cats-$60 for dogs over 6 years-$80 for dogs 6 months old to 6 years-$100 for puppies up to 6 monthsCome visit our pets Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-2pm.
