Meet Rumplemintz! 🐾 Rumplemintz is a young Anatolian Shepherd with the strong, steady presence the breed is known for. Originally bred to guard livestock, Anatolian Shepherds are naturally alert, intelligent, and deeply loyal to their people. As a young dog, Rumplemintz is still growing and learning, but he already shows the calm confidence typical of the breed. Anatolian Shepherds are independent and thoughtful dogs that tend to form strong bonds with their families while remaining naturally watchful of their surroundings. With continued guidance and room to move, Rumplemintz has the potential to grow into a devoted and impressive companion, just as Anatolian Shepherds are known to be. The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A meet-and-greet is required for all shelter dogs if you already have a dog. Meet Toffee – a 35-pound puppy who is a Shepherd mix. At 10 months old, she’s full of life, playful energy, and loves being part of whatever you’re doing. Toffee is an affectionate girl who thrives on attention and will happily follow you around. She is crate trained and settles well, and she is housebroken as long as she’s kept on a consistent schedule. She loves other dogs and would do best with either an active family or a home with another playful dog. She can get right in another dog’s face when she wants to play, but it’s all in good fun—she just really loves having a buddy. Toffee did test positive for ehrlichia exposure, meaning she was exposed at some point, but she has no symptoms and feels great. If treatment is ever needed, it’s simple and inexpensive. Adoption is $300 which includes her spay, age-appropriate vaccines, microchip and current monthly prevention. I originally adopted Zeus from the Cleveland APL, he is 2 years old almost 3, he was originally going to get euthanized due to his stranger danger progressing but I was able to give him a home at the time and help him get better. He is good with a muzzle as I have been working on muzzle training with him, he is good with other dogs small and large but doesn’t realize his size so would do best in a larger dog sized household. He is nervous of children so would do best in a home without kids, he needs a lot of space and someone who can give him the attention and time he needs.

*** BREED EXPERIENCED OWNERS ONLY, PLEASE *** 'NASH' is a handsome, 3 yr. old, 75 lb. German/Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix male, that has 'double dew claws' on his back legs. Nash is a big couch potato and a silly boy. Nash knows basic commands: sit, wait, break (release), come and shake, and he will gladly practice each for a treat or a meal. Nash is a sweet, smart, affectionate and obedient boy, but initially leery of strangers. On leash, without distractions, he is a good boy and a pleasure to walk. Nash likes to play fetch and loves his treats, both which are great ways to win him over, make him more comfortable, and begin bonding. Nash warms to you and loves being petted, sitting next to you, and just basically 'hanging out'. Nash's optimal home would be a quiet, low stimulation one with a confident, calm, breed-experienced owner willing to help him build confidence as he matures and knows how to positively direct and mitigate/manage the breed characteristic traits of guard dogs through exercise, training and positive reinforcement techniques. (He is both highly food motivated as well as praise driven). A home with high energy, volume or traffic would not suit Nash, so children would not a good fit with him. Nash loves other dogs, especially playful females. Through a fence he may bark, but then run alongside with others. He has a strong prey drive and is territorial, so he needs a fenced in yard. Nash is neutered, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, microchipped, on monthly heart-worm preventative, crate-trained and house-trained. This rescue does not do its own 'shots' ... all medical care is done by a licensed, certified Veterinarian or done under their direct supervision (ex., monthly heartworm treatments &/or deworming). All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., probiotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition.
