Story
Meet Sunshine Louise! This beautiful Anatolian Shepard/Great Pyrenees mix is super sweet and wants to be your best friend. She currently weights about 90 lbs. She is house trained (she will ring bells on the back door to go outside). She is very well behaved and does not require a crate indoors. Sunshine is a very, very laid back girl….until she feels the need to guard her home. We are unsure of her age, but the guess is around 6 years old. She is smart and very treat motivated. She loves to go on walks especially first thing in the morning and after the sun goes down. She LOVES people and kids! She is good with other dogs as long as they respect her boundaries. She easily integrates into a pack, but remains kind of a loner. She is spayed, (after having 10 puppies), microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations. She has also completed Heart Worm treatment. Sunshine loves belly rubs and pets. She will look lovingly and longingly into your eyes like she knows that her life has been saved and she is so very grateful. She is a very calm girl who prefers to lay on the cool floor. She is a “guardian” breed and will quietly take up a position (usually in a doorway) and just relax. She knows basic commands but does have a stubborn streak. Usually a treat will encourage her to follow your directions. Sunshine does have a high prey drive, so no cats or tiny toy breeds please. She also has a history of fence jumping to pursue wildlife, so a privacy fence would be ideal. If you would like to meet this precious girl and make her part of your family, please complete an application at https://forrescue.net/dog-application/ Sunshine is located in North Alabama with transport available to your area. Friends of Rescue requires a virtual home visit and vet reference prior to all adoptions. All Friends of Rescue animals are indoor family members.

Story
Trained Special Handler, Savvy Dog Owner Penny is an owner surrender. The lady got married and is now expecting and didn't want her working dog anymore. YES, I SAID OBEDIENCE TRAINED DOG Penny has been used as a balance dog, so she knows the protocol. She will be placed in a home where she is the only dog because like many dogs out there, she was raised without dogs, cats or children, and doesn't get along with them now. Penny's is protective of her person, and will keep others away, this must be monitored. She doesn't do anything out of the way with humans, but dogs are another matter. She will only be placed where there are no other pets, as she is the boss, and causes trouble with other dogs. We recommend further training with her in her new home, in addition to a handler who understands retired working dogs. Penny is extremely loving, beautiful, and blows coat twice a year with a vengeance. Penny loves outings, but we will provide a muzzle to keep her out of trouble with people who won't listen to you. Penny says she is ready to stop this vacation now and settle in with her forever person.

Meet Betty!! She is a 9 months old beautiful mix of Anatolian Shepard and maybe Black Mouth Cur or maybe Boxer (she has characteristics of both). She weighs about 40 pounds right now and will probably be between 55-60 pounds full grown. Betty is a playful, loving, happy girl - she get along great with other dogs, and ADORES kids. She is housebroken and working her crate training skills - as well as her manners. She'll need all things puppy in her new home! She is good with cats! She wants to play though so dog savvy cats are best. This girl is going to be an amazing family pet! Interested: https://asecondchanceforziva.org/adopt/adoption-application/

Story
Mila was surrendered because she wanted to be with people rather than sheep so she wasn't a very good livestock guard dog. Mila is really just a big ham who loves belly rubs. She is tons of fun and loves people. She is very food motivated so this can be used to help do some training with her. Mila loves people and would prefer to be the only dog in the home. We do not know what she thinks of cats. Due to her size, a home with kids 8+ is preferred (she loves kids but may accidently knock some smaller ones over). This gorgeous girl is about 2-3 years old and 90 lbs. Please help Mila find the loving home she deserves. **Please note we currently have another dog with a similar name. Please make sure you use the spelling "MILA" on your application or correspondence to avoid any confusions. We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes. Anatolian Shepherd Akita

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Needs special attention, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Meet Daredevil! He is the bravest superhero with no sight. This handsome young floof ball is about 5 months old and weighs 20 pounds. We are not exactly sure what breeds he has in him but we suspect something like Anatolian Sheperd or Great Pyrenees and he reminds us a little of an Akita!. Daredevil earned his name due to the fact that he has no eyeballs, and like the character himself is still the most brave of souls! Daredevil tries his best to be a normal dog, he will even use the potty pads when he needs to potty! The best way he has learned is by being with other dogs, his foster fur siblings truly helped bring him out of his shell, so he would thrive best in a home with another dog. His foster mom has done great at trying to introduce him to the outside world but as to be expected all the different noises can be a bit scary not being able to see what they are. Daredevil will need lots of training to adjust as he grows, but is the sweetest of boys you will ever meet. Interested in becoming this pup’s forever home? For immediate consideration, please fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we DO NOT go any further without an application. If there are multiple dogs that you are interested in, please fill out an application for each dog. This does not include bonded pairs, one application will be fine. We have different adoption coordinators working with different dogs, and your application may be missed if you only apply once. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and the perfect forever home for our dogs. We appreciate you working with us. Our adoption fee is $650. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Story
Hey all, I'm Lil Mac! I absolutely love to run, jump, chew, lick and just play all the time! I'm not shy at all and will come running up to you and let you know I'm ready to be petted! Because I came to the Shelter when I was a baby, I need help with training (house, leash and crate). But because I'm so clever it won't take any time at all to get me used to living with you in our new fur-ever home. My ONLY flaw is that I don't do well on car rides, I shouldn't eat before a long ride because It won't stay down long. Other than that, you'll be amazed at what a good boy I am! We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. They would love to bring Lil Mac to his forever home. Please adopt.
