Calling all Shepherd LOVERS-Meet Carmie!
Carmie is a 3-year-old Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and a deep affection for people. If someone is searching for a loyal, affectionate, and expert-level cuddle buddy, she might just be the perfect match.
A few things to know about beautiful Carmie:
She has been living with her current family for a year and a half. She’s a great dog, but she has struggled to get along with her dog sister since a scrap over a rabbit. Carmie would be much happier in a home where she is the only pet. Her family adores her, making this decision difficult, but they know she will thrive best in a home where she can live free of the concern of a canine companion. She loves to run around a yard as well, so space is important for this healthy girl.
Carmie absolutely loves people. Whether lounging on the couch or simply spending time at home, she wants to be close to her humans at all times. She’s also vocal - she “squeaks” out her feelings of love and joy, so you’ll never wonder where she is!
Carmie is a total cuddlebug. While she enjoys playing with her squeaky ball and running around the yard, her favorite activity is snuggling up and being her person’s personal weighted blanket. A comfy home and a cozy routine? That’s her dream! Kids? Visitors? Yes, please! The vet? That’s a person! Yes, please!
Carmie needs a quiet life as the only pet. Other dogs and cats aren’t really her thing—she would much rather soak up all the love and attention from her favorite humans.
Carmie has completed three sessions of professional training. She knows a variety of commands and works hard to stay calm. As a true Shepherd mix (Anatolian, German, and English), she tends to be a bit anxious and highly alert. An owner willing to continue working with her on maintaining calmness would be ideal.
Carmie is incredibly silly—she sometimes falls off the couch from getting too relaxed, enjoys playing with her human teenage sisters, and has some of the best ears in the world.
Carmie is highly intelligent and picks up on things quickly. She rings a bell to go outside and knows commands such as sit, stay, lay down, wait, shake, and back up. While she is house-trained and well-behaved indoors, walking on a leash can be a challenge due to her alert nature and some reactivity to other dogs and small animals. However, Carmie has made great progress. She has been crate trained, but has had free reign of her current house without incident for a year. She’s used to sleeping in her dog bed on the floor. Okay, she’s a little spoiled…
Carmie also has an adventurous side—she has been known to climb a 4-foot chain-link fence! Her family added fence extensions to prevent her from escaping, and they are happy to provide these to her new home. She doesn’t want to run away—she just loves to chase small animals and explore.
Carmie is fully vetted, up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed, and ready to start her new life with a loving family.
For anyone looking for a sweet, loving, intelligent and loyal homebody companion, Carmie would love to meet you.
