Basic Info: • Name: Chance • Rescue ID: D250072 • Adoption Fee: 325 • Breed: Anatolian Shepherd Dog & Catahoula Leopard Dog mix (possible) • Age: 3 • Weight: 65 pounds • Gender: Neutered male • Housetrained: Most likely • Good with other animals: Prefers to be the only dog in the home; does best interacting with calm, friendly, adult female dogs. Cats unknown. Personality: Chance is a loving, highly intelligent dog eager to learn and please; he thrives when mentally challenged (having a job, when engaged in play, etc). He already knows commands like “sit,” “give paw,” and “down,” and is excited to learn more! Chance should take very well to any additional training. He responds nicely to positive reinforcement, belly rubs, and treats. Chance loves people and is looking for direction, purpose, and a family to call his own. Ideal Home: Chance enjoys 1:1 engagement so a single person or couple would be ideal. He would do well having a fenced yard to run off some energy but consistent leash walking would be acceptable. Chance will do best with an experienced owner familiar with smart, working breeds. He enjoys hiking, playing fetch, and having a “job” that challenges him with consistent training. He walks nicely on a leash but can pull when overly excited, so redirection is key. Story
This handsome boy was picked up running at large and based on Facebook posts it was about his third or fourth offense, but no one claimed him. We are guessing that he was a failure at being a livestock guardian because he’s way too social. He’s always wanting to visit someone new. Charlie is a little over a year old and weighs 110 lbs. He was very thin when he first came to us but is now at his perfect weight. He is neutered, up to date on required vaccines, microchipped and heartworm tested negative. He’s house trained and he loves other dogs, but he is a big guy. He also will require a tall fence, and you will have to keep an eye on him because again he likes to visit new people. He’s affectionate and likes to lean on you. He is learning commands like sit and stay and he really tries to please! This is what his foster mom says about him " Charlie is amazing. He is housebroken, loves to be hugged, hasn’t chewed anything up, likes to play but is content just to chill. He walks beautifully on a leash and likes to say hi to everyone he meets. Charlie enjoys sitting and looking out the window, hanging around in the kitchen especially when I’m cooking and going for car rides. Although this breed is known for having a stubborn streak, Charlie seems to understand a few commands wait, it’s ok, no, come, let’s go and he will even sit for a treat. But his favorite is Good Boy Charlie❤️" This guy would be a great dog for an active loving family. He’s so sweet!
