Story
Meet Lola! Lola is a Great Dane believed to be now 5/6 years of age based on her surrender intake information. Lola has been with us since May 2020. Her skin condition has improved but does need continued prevention care for the rest of her life. Lola's requirements are simple but can seem like a lot. Let's talk about Lola's personality first. Lola is the definition of LOVE. She loves all she meets. It is humans and critters big and small she loves and accepts all. Her happy adoring sweet easy simple personality makes life with her amazing. Lola is food motivated and enjoys napping and relaxing but will easily walk a mile too. She is a go-with-the-foo kinda girl. She is playful and loves all dogs. She enjoys playing wrestling snuggling napping and cuddling. She is a bed hog and one who prefers to be with her humans and animal companions always. Lola currently sleeps in a big bed with several other dogs. Lola is a sweet and calm girl but still playful. She loves going on walks and greeting people. She mostly enjoys eating, sleeping, and relaxing enjoying the day go by in the company of those she loves. She would be a great cooking buddy and taste tester as this girl loves food but she does have allergies and is pretty severe too. When she's hungry or thinks she deserves a treat, she will nudge you toward the kitchen. Lola is a quiet girl who enjoys a good car ride, nap time, central air in the summer, and a warm fire in the winter. She will snuggle up with anyone willing to share their bed or sofa. Lola enjoys the company of other dogs and doesn't mind the attention and sharing space with cats. Lola would do well in a home with mellow kids. Lola requires a very faithful committed responsible person who can oversee her care and afford it as well. Currently on a prescription diet, dry mix with wet food. She requires medical baths and lathered in a moisturizing cream to keep her skin hydrated as needed, really she is like every pampered high maintenance girl. But she's a doggo. Lola does take supplements to help improve healing and care of her skin as well as Rx meds needed if she has a flair-up. Flairs are easy to prevent. Clean healthy environment, her prescription food, must have ac in the summer and added moister in the winter. I use a humidifier. Lola had a hard start in life. Neglect at its worse. I just hope someone will adopt her and expose her to the world of a loved pet. A family, a home of her own, and the luxury of belonging and being part of a loving family. A nice size yard would be nice but not mandatory. She is well trained off leash and her recall is perfect. She makes an excellent apartment condo living girl. If you know the breed you understand. Lola is house and crate trained, current to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto & corona, 1 or 3-year rabies,  dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped including free registration for life, spay/neutered, heartworm & lyme diseases tested negative upon adoption,  and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. We do NOT ship and meet and greet are required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter. Previous adopters of AHS have the first choice and are not expected to pay another adoption fee again.  Donation of their choice is welcomed. Training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded. Continued training is a must. Adoption process information can be found on our website www.animalhousesanctuary.org The Adoption Fee of $350 covers all of the above and everyday needs/care.  Update: 7/6/2023

Story
Meet Toby! Toby is all puppy a big big puppy that will push buttons test boundaries, and everyone he meets. He is a butt head but means no harm. He has learned his size can be intimidating but he's a kitten at heart. He's extremely smart and truly a great dog once he knows not to shit around. He's goofy with lots of puppy left in him. I strongly believe his goofy personality is just him catching up for the lack of experience in his first year plus of life he missed out on. Toby is great with dogs of all sizes. Truly hes sweet and a big baby. Toby needs a strong handler and not a crazy busy home with lots of visitors. ABSOLUTELY NO cats and NO children of young age. Toby makes most adults fly. He is a giant DODO. If you fear him he will smell you out and use it to intimidate you. Toby requires a confident no nonsense kind of person. With humor, nurturing but firm LOVE. Toby is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped, neutered, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention. Updated: 2/1/2023 www.animalhousesanctuary.org We believe training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues that arise, need to be addressed and/or rewarded. Story
Meet Dually!!! Dually is believed to be a Mastiff mix about 7 yrs old. Dually has been homeless her whole life. She’s been in rescue since 2016. Really all she needs is a stable secure home with a confident experienced owner with common sense. She is a homebody and would perfectly happy with just her people. She does not do well with cats and is best as an only dog. She minds her own around new dogs once she is comfortable and knows she is safe. But a home of her own is preferred. She loves training and learning commands. Loves car rides and walks. Drive through for pup cups are always fun. Dually lacks confidence and can be unsure at times. Allow her space she needs and build that bond with her and she is that loyal dog everyone dreams of having. An adult home would be best for her. Well mannered teens are ok. Respect, discipline, routine, structure, and common sense Helps dually feel safe and at home. She truly is not difficult and once comfortable she’s absolutely the best friend anyone could want. Dually has been raised with kids as young as 7 years old. Dually is a breed of dog that is not for the weak minded, or non committed individual. She is guarded but disciplined. She is calm and a bit lazy but truly is up to whatever her person wants to do. She makes the best side kick buddy. She needs a strong owner both physically and mentally confident to guide her. She has been well socialized since birth but always lacked confidence. Dually is currently at the sanctuary with Cindy and her children both autistic but high functioning. Cindy trusts Dually 100% with her kids however her children have grown up around dogs and know how to behave, respect, and handle dogs like Dually daily since age 5. Dually has done well with other dogs properly introduced. it takes time and patience. Trust is everything and she is currently 1 of 32 plus in her group who coexist without any issues. She was at one point 1 of 60 free roaming. She prefers her space and loves her crate/cave. Loves her chew toys and comfy dog bed. Dually walks well on leash, off leash trained, her breed makes her very protective of her people, pack and perimeter but obeys well and will not act on it. Dually is crate trained and housebroken. Dually cannot be adopted out within city limits of Fort Wayne/Allen county or Huntington/Huntington county unless its a confident secure home with a full fence and cautions keeping her safe and thriving. These areas are not ok with her breed. A secured fence in yard is preferred 4 ft and up, no tie out, no chain, no garage living. No basement. She needs to by her people relaxed in a big comfy dog bed. Preferred a home with no other pets. Adoption fee partially sponsored. And she is to be an indoor pet and part of the family. NOT A GARAGE OR SHOP DOG unless its with her owner. Dually is house and crate trained, up to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto, corona rabies, de-wormed, fecal tested negative, micro-chipped, spayed, and current on monthly heart-worm flea/tick prevention.
