Story
This precious girl Cassie is up for adoption after almost being a foster fail. She is the BEST and most SWEETEST puppy there is. If I didn’t have 5 dogs of my own and adopting her would end my fostering career she would be ours in a second. She is potty trained, kennel trained, knows basic commands, walks well on a leash, loves kids, loves cats and I could go on and on. She is 6 months old and over 50 pounds. She will be a big girl full grown. 100+ pounds. The vet and I guess she is Anatolian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees. She protects her yard and is a great watch dog. She does have a sensitive stomach so she eats food for sensitive digestive tracks. She also gets car sick but has been doing better on small trips with good planning. We would love to either adopt her to a family that already has a young dog for she definitely loves to have a playmate or to a family that is very active or has kids to play with her. https://airtable.com/shrSbfFkCdeRMtZw2?fbclid=IwAR2Q_R2qh2bk6pwcDPnrL8722wGTJORafSAWJObVLvz0g6ASJOFxLIdvsRw

Story
I’m a lucky dog – I’m in a special training program with the Missouri State University DARR College of Ag Companion Animal Science Program. I will be working with the students in that program as they learn and I learn until late November – when I will be available to go to an adopter. What a fortunate adopter that will be! I can be pre-adopted or a qualified applicant can make an appointment to meet me as soon as I’m available in November. Apply online at polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt. Hello there, I'm Rio! I wandered to a nice person's house along with 4 siblings and our mom. The nice people at the shelter came and got me and thank goodness they did, because we were just wandering aimlessly. My days are filled with wagging tails and wet noses. I'm just a puppy, but I've got a big heart. I'm sweet as honey, always ready to give you my undivided attention. I'm friendly too, eager to meet new friends and play. Loyalty is my middle name, I promise to be your faithful companion through thick and thin. And I'm gentle, careful with every step and touch. My dream? To find a forever home where I can share all this love. Adopt me, and let's fill our days with joy and companionship. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2093941##
