Story
Gus is a handsome 1 year old Anatolian shepherd mix who came to the shelter with his brother Grizzly after their owners had to surrender them. They were raised on a farm and spent their lives guarding livestock. Their owners new fiancé was found to be allergic to the dogs so they had to be surrendered. They did not live inside at any point but are young and quick to learn! They both know sit and walk well on a leash. It is noted that they should not be in a home with cats. These boys do not have to be adopted together, but they both desperately deserve a loving forever home! You can meet Gus in kennel 79, his ID is 6141. He is up to date on vaccinations, heart worm negative, and will be microchipped & neutered upon adoption. Please note, all of the pet listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers, not shelter staff. If this pet came in as lost (not an owner surrender), we don't know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When calling the shelter about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER, names are oftentimes made up by volunteers. This pet and many others are available for adoption from the Cobb County Animal Shelter 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, call (770) 499-4136 for more information. Shelter hours are: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by appointment only until further notice, CLOSED Mondays & Holidays.

Story
Ruben is a handsome one year old male Anatolian Shepherd mix, who has adorable spots on his ears that further add to his appeal! This friendly boy has a joyful smile whenever he is around people. Ruben also loves spending time in the fenced-in park where he likes to chase balls, explore all the interesting scents, and playfully jump by your side. After his initial energy out of his cage, Ruben has moderate energy and will follow your lead on a leash. He also has such a cute playfulness with toys, where he shows off his play bows while going to pick up a toy. Ruben’s enthusiasm for life is evident, often expressed through happy jumps to greet those he adores. Given his size, potential adopters should consider his jumpy nature, especially around small children. But fortunately Ruben is a very smart boy who is quickly learning his manners. And since Anatolian Shepherds are known to be patient and loyal, he has potential to be a great family dog after some training. All that Ruben needs is to find his family, where he can thrive surrounded by people who love him as much as he will love them (which is a lot!). Please go meet Ruben and make his day… or maybe even change his life!  The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip.Carroll County Animal Shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton GA. Phone: 770-214-3590. The hours of operation are: Monday through Wednesday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Thursday 12:30 pm till 6:00 pm; Friday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Saturday 9:00 am till 4:00 pm.
