Story
THIS BOY IS BREAKING EVERY PART OF MY HEART - PLEASE SHARE A single glance into the sorrowful and terrified eyes of Alfonso will leave you questioning the very essence of humanity. His tail is tightly tucked between his hind legs, and a low, uncertain growl escapes him as he timidly retreats, clearly unsure of his surroundings and safety. This gentle giant, a sensitive and kind-hearted Great Dane, has endured unimaginable suffering at the hands of a previous owner, leaving him in a state of fear and confusion. Fortunately, he found refuge in a caring shelter that recognized his plight and tirelessly advocated for his well-being, ensuring he received the attention he so desperately needed. For sixty long days, Alfonso remained in that shelter, watching as his brother found a loving home while countless other dogs were adopted, leaving him behind. His dark coat, timid demeanor, and frail frame made him blend into the background, rendering him invisible to potential adopters. Unlike the exuberant pups that leap into the arms of new families, Alfonso's fear held him back, creating a barrier that few could see past. Yet, despite these challenges, the shelter staff never lost hope, continuously promoting his story and seeking a compassionate soul willing to give him a chance at a brighter future. On his first full day in my care, Alfonso exhibited signs of deep-seated fear, retreating and growling as he tried to navigate this new environment. However, after spending time with him and allowing him to observe the other dogs interacting with me, he began to realize that perhaps I wasn’t a threat. I knelt down, inviting him to come closer, and slowly, he approached, bowing his head and extending his paw in a gesture of trust. In that moment, he melted my heart, and as he settled beside me, I felt a warmth that contrasted with the sadness of his past. I am convinced that there is someone out there destined to be his beacon of hope, someone who will shower him with love and kindness, ensuring that he never faces darkness again.  If you believe you could be that person, I urge you to submit an adoption application for this extraordinary boy at www.denkaisanctuary.org/adopt  If you would like to make a contribution towards Alfonso and so many other just like him, please do!
