Story
@vcanimalservices Wow!!! 5y/o Toby is an absolute dream. This big boy clocks in at 92lbs, and allowed for pets and all over today. He’s described as a loving puppy despite his age, and we hear he knows some basic commands! He is strong and looking for an active home. We’re still learning more about Toby when it comes to other dogs. He may not want to be best buddies or play with other pups, but could possibly tolerate an independent dog who will co-exist but give some space. Slow intros recommended, as always. More photos of Toby are on our website at vcas.us/dogs, and he is available for adoption now o’clock!!! at time of posting, Toby is at our Camarillo Shelter. Walk-ins welcome from 1-6PM every day but Monday. Full process & appitnments at vcas.us/adopt ? Just like Heaven - The Cure

Story
We rescued this adorable 4 year old (as of June 2024) boy and he is looking for his forever home. Sweet and playful, he loves toys and water, is house trained, and would make a great active companion for an adult home. Ralfie does get along with other dogs but does need to be the only dog in the home. He knows how to sit and give paw and would love to meet you. For more info on this dog, please call our rescue and adoption center at (818) 340-1687 or (818) 340-1186, submit an application from our website or email adopt@petadoptionfund.org

Story
Helena has a big heart and a big body! Haha!! We assume she is an Anatolian Shepherd/Armenian Gampr. This site does not have that as a breed option. Best as the only dog. Helena was surrendered while in labor and required emergency surgery to deliver the puppies. The people that “owned” her claimed to not have any money for vet care and were driving around with her in the car for hours looking for a vet to do the surgery for free. Finally they ended up at an emergency hospital that knew our friends at HOPE FOR PAWS and they agreed to help with the surgery only if they surrendered the dog to them. They surrendered her and then had the nerve to ask if they could leave a $1,000 deposit for one of the male puppies! Some people are amazing! Of course we would not adopt to them! Helena was so neglected! She had a prolapsed vagina that they said had been that way for “a few months” and they never got her medical care. She was extremely dirty, under weight and she’s lucky she survived! She was too weak to nurse the puppies so they were bottle fed.

Story
Meet Kona – A Majestic Guardian Ready for Her Ideal Home! Kona is a beautiful four-and-a-half-year-old Anatolian Shepherd from Altadena, California, with a heart set on finding her perfect new family, wherever they may be. This spirited companion finds joy in the simple things – from chew toys and tennis balls to invigorating runs and cozy lounging. Her loyalty is unwavering, and she adores being close to her loved ones, content to follow them or relax nearby in a favorite chair. Kona’s perfect home would be a spacious, outdoor environment – ideally, acres of open land where she can fulfill her natural role as a guardian. Bred for protecting livestock, she has a keen instinct for surveying her surroundings and would thrive in a place where she can roam freely and keep an eye on her territory. Kona would be especially well-suited for a home where she could be a "guardian of the land," patrolling her space with purpose. In addition to space, Kona’s ideal family would be experienced with protective breeds. She needs a confident handler who can offer the firm, calm guidance she requires, especially in situations where she needs clear instruction. Though she may show territorial protectiveness at home, Kona is quite friendly in neutral spaces like boarding facilities, and she’s known for her gentle nature around children. Kona’s perfect match will appreciate her loyal, independent spirit and offer her the calm, stable environment she craves – ideally with limited visitors to respect her need for a secure space. Fully crate trained, vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and house-trained, Kona is more than ready for a new beginning. If you’re captivated by her charm and have the experience and space to offer this wonderful dog her ideal home, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com today! Kona is ready to embark on her next adventure – could it be with you?

Story
Astrid is a LARGE Armenian Gampr weighing in at a healthy 160 pounds. At 3 years old, Astrid is still a puppy at heart and seems to be unaware of her larger than life size. More often than not she can be found lost in her own world, running around, jumping in the air trying to catch some wind under her paws. Astrid must have a vivid imagination as she loves to just hang out on her own, keeping herself entertained. She enjoys simple things like a dip in the kiddie pool and a fluffy squeaky toy. Astrid would like to find a home where she can have all the attention to herself with no other animals. She may get along with other humans 16 and older. She would like a home with a large yard and high secure fencing. An owner willing to invest in training her to be well behaved is a requirement. My adoption comes with a free month of training from GoodPup.com to ease me into my new home and help me bond with my new family.

These pups are in Thousand Oaks, California too!

Story
I have taken in a 7 year old female mastiff that was surrendered with a box of toys. She is a 140lbs and turned 7 in November. At 7 years old she deserves a family and person that will make her feel loved for the remainder of her life. From investigating, I have found that this poor girl has been in 4-5 homes through her lifetime. She has been amazing with all dogs and people she has come into contact with. The one downside is she does have a few medical issues. She has leaky bladder syndrome so she is on Incurin, which has stopped the dribbling. Additionally, I have found that she has had GI upset since I received her so I have done GI panels and baseline bloodwork.
