Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.IVY hails from the Northern community of Pikangikum and came south to find her forever family. She’s spayed, vaccinated including her rabies shot, microchipped, had a few doses of dewormer and been given a clean bill of health by the vet.  IVY has been diagnosed with CH (Cerebella Hypoplasia) or as we affectionately refer to it - wobbly kitten syndrome. So basically she can walk and run like any other kitten but she’ll get wobbly and simply fall over to one side. She’s never hurt herself doing this and we don’t really expect her to either. It appears that the CH just affects her back legs and the older she gets and the stronger she gets, the better the use of her back legs will get too. She’ll always be wobbly though so we’re not saying that will stop but just that she’ll seem to control her walking more. She doesn’t need any medication or surgery and she’ll just live her life as a happy well-adjusted wobbly kitten. IVY’s litter box trained and she does use one that has low sides so it’s easier for her to get into. It’s best to watch out for her when she’s in there to make sure she doesn’t fall over and land on her poop as she goes. She eats regular kitten food and uses raised bowls for both her food and her water to help her be more comfortable eating and drinking. She was sleeping at night in a playpen but after a few weeks she decided it would be fun to climb and did just that so more playpen for her. Overall that’s the only accommodations her foster has made for her so other than being wobbly, she’s just like any other kitten. IVY loves the 2 dogs she’s fostered with so we’d love her to go to a home that has a cat savvy dog and one that won’t be too hyper around her. She was fostered with another kitten and it did take her awhile to warm up to him and she was just starting to warm up to him before he was adopted but they never became what we’d call “friends.” So when it comes to being with another cat it definitely would have to be a home with a super friendly, patient one who’s spent a lot of time around other cats. She’s very cuddly and does like to snuggle and sleep in her fosters lap so ideally an adopter who’s home for most of the day would suit her best. For her own safety she’ll need a home with no stairs so a single dwelling one such as a bungalow or apartment would suit her best. Children should be aged 14yrs and up and be loving, caring and gentle towards animals.  If you would like to meet IVY and be considered as her new owner then please submit an adoption application.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 7, 2025, 11:37 am
