Story
My name is Apollo, and I just turned three years old in December 2024. I’ve now been at NAS for over one year and all I’m wishing for is a family of my own. I was found as a stray initially and have been growing up in the shelter and my foster home. To share a little bit about me, my #1 favorite thing is cuddling. I love to burrow underneath the covers and snuggle up with people. If I’m not under the covers, I`ll crawl up into your arms so you can hold me. I know I`m not a little guy, but I`m not too big to hold, right? I`m also very good at walks, but I need to be reminded sometimes not to pull on my leash. My foster parents say I`m really smart and that I`m really quick to learn new tricks, especially when food is involved. I know all kinds of tricks now, and I`m a very good listener. Sometimes I get a little too excited when I`m around other dogs, but I am muzzle trained. I like spending time outside so I can get my daily zoomies in. When I`m inside, I love to look out the window so I can let my foster parents know who`s out there. Lastly, I have a really expressive face and I`m good at using it to communicate my needs, whether it`s dinner time, play time, or I need to go outside. I hope to meet you soon! I really don’t want to spend another birthday without my forever family. Please note:- Our website (www.neenahanimalshelter.org) is updated in real time, so we are accepting applications for all animals that are currently listed.-Applications can be downloaded from our website. Story
Ronald Weasley is looking for his very special family! Ron has been working with his staff best friends and a behaviorist for a few months now on some anxiety, reactivity to strangers, and sensitivity to handling. Now we believe he’s ready to go to a home where his future family will continue his behavior management while understanding his quirks and challenges. Ronald’s training has consisted of: - Muzzle training - Engage-disengage training - Body handling - Appropriate leash walking with a gentle leader - Positive introductions to new people and dogs Ron’s been learning with Pawsitive Directions. NAS will sponsor his first behavioral session after his adoption. This will help him to succeed in his new home. Additionally, several staff members who’ve been working closely with Ron would be willing to coach a potential adopter through some of Ron’s training to help ease his transition. Ronald LOVES stuffies and he plays very gently with his toys. He enjoys car rides, walks, and belly rubs or snuggles from his favorite people. He has enjoyed meeting and playing with other dogs but he tends to feed off their energy, for this reason we believe a calmer confident dog would be the best dog sibling for him. While in our care we’ve learned that when Ron is with his BFF, Clark, who loves meeting new people, Ron is less reactive to strangers and warms up to them much quicker. Here’s what Ronald needs to best succeed in his new home: - Fenced yard - Physical fence due to territorial behaviors - No young kids - Continuation of his daily Apoquel and Fluoxetine medications - Lots of stuffies! Story
Meet the one and only Asani! Asani was surrendered with his two dog siblings when his owner unexpectedly passed away. Since being at NAS, he’s adjusted okay but is waiting patiently for his next forever home. Asani is a big affectionate boy with a lot of love to give. This handsome guy has lived with other dogs in the past and enjoys having buddies around, especially if they’re on the calmer side. He still has bursts of puppy energy, loves playing with toys (sometimes a little too roughly), and chasing after Jolly balls. Asani needs a cat free home, but could do well with older children. He’s polite when he greets people, and he does well for vet visits! This quirky adorable boy would love to cuddle up on your couch and play with you! Story
Tug Boat is a sweet and gentle boy who enjoys being around other dogs. He might even crawl into your lap for some love if you sit down with him since he loves attention from people. He enjoys his treats and food but also knows to mind his manners. Tug Boat is still settling into the shelter but would much prefer to be settling into a new home instead. Story
Meet the beautiful Kamiah! This gentle lady came to us after her owner unexpectedly passed away. After getting spayed and receiving some well-deserved TLC in a foster home, she is looking for her forever family with a comfy couch she can claim a spot on. Kamiah recently had some growths removed and currently has a clean bill of health, but it will be important that her new family keeps monitoring for any changes with her health. This is what Kamiah`s foster has to say about her: Kamiah is a super easy dog, very independent. She is easy to please, and enjoys spending her days sleeping and snuggling. She also enjoys walks. She occasionally plays with soft toys, likes to chew on antlers, bones and benebone type chews. She doesn`t really care for the cold. She will go outside to potty and then want to go inside as soon as she`s done. She`s crate trained, but is also a good girl when left to roam the house when the family is gone. She sleeps next to my bed every night, and occasionally on my bed. Kamiah has met people of all ages and sizes, and she loves them all equally. She`s met dogs of all breeds and sizes/ages and does well! We`re unsure of how she is with cats, but I imagine she would do just fine with slow introductions to feline friends. Toxic traits ... Drinks from the toilet if the lid is left open Eats poop (seems to prefer it fresh ??) Has tried to counter surf a number of times initially, but seems to have learned that the behavior is not appropriate. Still wouldn`t trust something yummy left unattended thoughPlease note: - Our website (www.neenahanimalshelter.org) is updated in real time, so we are accepting applications for all animals that are currently listed. - Applications can be downloaded from our website.
