Story
Are you looking to have your dog skills and experience challenged? Do you have the patience of a saint? Then Mighty is ready to test you. Seriously, he’s an 8.6 magnitude earthquake in a city without building codes. He is a rainstorm on a herd of Gremlins, after midnight… with a plate of food. For example: 1. Speaking of rainstorms – he hates them. As well as fireworks. Just about any loud, new, or odd noise scares him. He is even afraid of his farts. 2. He has the leash manners like some of those shoppers on Black Friday. You know, where the store is giving away an item to the first 200 guests. He just gets so excited sometimes he feels the need to jump up and grab the leash and walk himself. 3. Mighty has an allergy or several. No chicken for sure and probably no other poultry. Grains make him itchy, and sometimes he gets pink. 4. He’s one of those “blocky headed” dogs… pit balls, pot bois, pibbles, poblanos, whatever. 5. He’s nervous with new people, and he warms up to women quicker than men. Do you know that site with all the dogs who love the UPS guy? Mighty will not likely be making an appearance on that site. Here are some things we also know about Mighty. He completely loves his people. Once you’re in, you’re in for life. He likes to make new people friends, too, and that takes some time and treats… and those are treats without caramel color, because you know, the allergies. He loves attention, training, and showing his set of learned skills. He likes drinking from the hose, being outside with his people, and helping with yard work. If you have sticks, he’ll chew them. If you’re pulling weeds, he’ll shake them and spit them out…mostly. With patience, proper introductions, and some training, Mighty possibly could live with another dog. He previously lived with a female dog and a cat! He has not had the best of experiences with other animals since then, so we tend to err on the side of caution. We’ve loved this guy from the moment we saw him tied to a tree with a note stating, “My name is Mighty, …just tell me it’s OK Needs a good home and lots of love” We’ve come a long way from where he wouldn’t go near the car, wouldn’t go up or down the stairs, and only went outside to do his business. He now, cannot wait for the next car ride and uses the stairs like Rocky. (Except for the basement stairs, they’re still scary.) We’re not going to lie though; his forever home is one in a million. His new home will require experience, management, smarts, time and dedication. As they say, nothing worthwhile comes easy and nothing that comes easy is worthwhile. Mighty is a sweet, playful, loving dog, and is very loyal in his devotion to his people. He has quite a few quirks, but hey, who doesn’t? He has a long life ahead of him, and deserves an active, loving home that will always tell him, it’s OK.

Story
Check out our Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok for more pictures & videos of our adoptable dogs!Updated: 9/21/2024 Dog Name: Lola Sex: Female Estimated Breed Mix: American Staffie Approximate Age: 2 years Approximate Weight: 45 lbs Description: Lola had quite the trip from TX to WI - she birthed 5 puppies all by herself in her crate on the ride up! She was a great mama to her pups. Now that the pups are in different homes, we're learning about her as an individual. She ABSOLETELY LOOOVES children- she's particularly fond of her foster's 5 year old son. She looks at him with such love and adoration in her eyes.   She's currently a bit timid. Loud noises or fast movements startle her a bit. She's being slowly introduced to her fosters' dogs. Thus far she's nervous meeting medium/large dogs. She's done ok with on-leash introductions.  She recently had a playdate with friend of her foster's dog and did wonderfully! It just goes to show what time, patience and work can do to help dogs like Lola. Lola knows 'sit' and does well with 'come' and 'no.' She listens to human correction VERY well! She's also housebroken. Some of her favorite things are bones, stuffed and squeaky toys. She enjoys a roomy crate- will go in and out happily as long as it's not too small. She will not willingly go into a crate she deems too small.  She dislikes cantaloupe and watermelon. She is a VERY happy and loving girl who loves her humans with every fiber of her being. She needs VERY slow intro with other dogs. She is smiling 95% of the time. Anytime she isn't smiling she's either sleeping (sometimes even smiling in her sleep), outside distracted sniffing the yard, or howling with sirens passing by helping spread the word that help is on the way! She is the SWEETEST dog and would be completely fine being the only dog in the home. It would just mean she would get all the love and affection to herself, which she would LOVE! She does the cutest toe tappies when she's super happy or excited. Adoption Fee: $350We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433   ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. Their mom Lola gave birth to them on their trip from Texas to Wisconsin (her picture is the last one posted)! It was quite the start to their young lives! Snap LOVES to play, is 90% potty trained, and is a frequent napper. If you're looking for a cuddly companion, this is your guy! He does great meeting new dogs and he's done wonderfully with every child he's met so far. He is the sweetest, most friendly and calmest puppy. He's also a very smart boy, he already learned to 'sit' and 'shake.' He loves to play with other dogs, but he's also content laying around the house. He’s not your typical puppy as he doesn’t do the puppy nibbles, doesn’t chew on anything other than his toys. Story
Meet Anita! Age: Golden Oldie (12+ years old) Weight: 42 pounds Good with: Dogs and all humans, but I haven't met any cats just yet! House trained: yes! Crate trained: not needed, I'm a perfect lady. Special needs: I have some vision impairments, so steps aren't really ideal, and my hearing isn't so great anymore either, but I'm pretty much good as gold otherwise! I'm just a lovely lady looking to find her forever people to spend the rest of my days with! I really enjoy being with my humans as much as possible, so if you could take me with you all the places you go, I'd be one happy gal. I enjoy car rides, and I walk well on a leash, so I promise to be on my best behavior on our adventures together. If you must leave me home, I'll voice my displeasure in it, but I promise to settle down and nap while you're away and not get into any trouble. Heck, if you give me a Kong filled with peanut butter, that'll keep me occupied for a while, too! I'm really just looking for some nice humans to let me sleep in bed with them (I can still manage to jump on and off the furniture just fine on my own) and show me a little love here and there. That's not too much to ask, right? I promise to make you laugh and love you right back. With every beat of my heart. Are you ready to make a little space in your heart and home for me? *Anita is being fostered in Plover, WI. Story
*Hank is part of our Take Time to Fall in Love Promotion. See our Adoption Procedures page for more details.* I was removed from a neglect situation with another dog so yes life wasn’t really fun and there was obviously not much love. Here I can be a little timid at first but as one of the Canine Care staff members described me, once I am out, I am like a big baby, climbing into your lap and soaking up all the loving and attention I am getting. They are also introducing me to toys and they look fun though I’m still not quite sure what to do with them. I’ll chase them and then run back to the dog walker for some more petting. Guess what, some may have thought I was not good with other dogs but let me tell you something, I am actually doing pretty well some of the doggies in play groups here. We are just having fun like kids would at recess. (Of course, this still means that I may not like every single dog) So if you have a dog, why don’t you bring him in so we can meet and see how we may do together.

*Royal is part of our Take Time to Fall in Love Promotion. See our Adoption Procedures page for more details.* I am also the featured pet on Save-A-Pet's Woof-derful Wednesdays weekly feature! #woofareyouwaitingfor Things I love: people, tennis balls, running outside, blankets, rolling in the grass, treats and more. I’m a very handsome guy, always ready to flash you one of my “signature” smiles. While I may be a little shy meeting some new people, a couple of treats is all it takes to become great friends. I am also pretty smart, and ready to learn more. I am very affectionate and a real cuddler. At night, I sleep deeply and snore loudly I’m told. This just means that I had an active day filled with a lot of loving and play time.
