Story
Buddy loves to play and run. Prior to living with me, he had 3 other dogs in his pack. owner was a truck driver, who took he and his pack on frequent trips. He loves camping/hiking. I had 2 geriatric cats and a kitten at the time, and he integrated well with them. My grandchildren adore him, and he is learning to curb his physical enthusiasm when we come home after being gone all day. Despite long hours alone in the house, he has never destroyed anything or had an accident. (except once with diarrhea and it was at the door). He is sweet, friendly and playful. He has learned multiple commands (sit, stay, no, come, load up, lay down-both in English and French) I live in the city, with very little yard space. I work from early am to late evening most days. I take him to the dog park, where he runs and plays well with most dogs...(he attempts to dominate unneutered males). I feel guilty that he can't run and play. I've tried rehoming him to no avail. I have all you need to take care of him

Story
This is max! I rescued him after he was left behind during a snow storm, I am currently fostering him until I find a forever home. He is a sweet and caring dog, no signs of resource guarding or aggression, interacts well with other dogs ( I have 2) and does not bark, jump or dig to escape lol I am unfortunately unable to take him in permanently because of limited space and my other animals. Max would do best in a home with other friendly dogs or as the only pet, but he does have a tendency to scare cats with his high energy friendship haha! although he has calmed down to them over the past 3 weeks. This furry dude deserves a loving family and needs your help to find it! ❤️

Story
Ellarix is a wonderful dog and her fosters can attest. After 2 years they've learned she is a needy, snuggly baby. She loves booty scratches, tug-o-war, and a kong full of peanut butter. She is far from high maintenance as she spends most of her time sleeping in her bed, on her favorite couch, on her foster's bed, or really anywhere that's comfortable! You're probably wondering "wow, she sounds great, why has she been there for so long? Well, when Ellarix first arrived she had a bad tear in her leg that needed surgery. These surgeries take time and the healing process even longer. Once we found a foster home for her to recover in many people stopped asking about her because she was in a foster home and not in the shelter. We incredibly lucky to have fosters committed to caring for Ellarix but after all this time we hope to finally find her an adoptive home!

Story
Puppy dog eyes to end all puppy dog eyes. That's what we think when we look at Beanie Baby. Beanie is one of our resident softies who's just as precious on the inside as he looks on the outside. With his beautiful light brown eyes and his goofy smile who wouldn't fall in love? Beanie is approximately 4 years old. We rescued him from a Louisiana shelter some time ago and before that his life was not easy. Despite it all, he has still remained such a shining light in our lives. Beanie struggles with confidence and can be fearful towards strangers. Even still he’s maintained such a joyful and calming presence. His love for people knows no bounds and we can’t wait for him to experience that same love in a home someday. He’s just waiting for another chance at Happiness! What Beanie Baby needs now is consistency. Beanie Baby is afraid of strangers but not outright reactive so people tend to miss his cues. Someone with a low traffic household and experience in this area would be a blessing for him! Additionally, Beanie Baby derives so much confidence from other dogs. If he could join a pack or even have just one dog friend to lead him through life, we believe that would change so much for him! If you are interested in fostering or adopting Beanie, please email adoption@lynchburghumane.org or foster@lynchburghumane.org, or stop by to meet him any time!
