Story
Nookie was rescued from Tucson, AZ and is estimated to be around 5 years old. He loves food, playing tug, being chased, sun bathing, and cuddling with pillows and blankets. He loves going to dog parks and going for walks. He is an average energy dog. Nookie is housebroken, kennel-trained, and knows many commands like: sit, lay down, backup, speak, "I love you," paw, wait, bed, excuse me, get out, up, off, etc. Nookie is a very independent dog and keeps to himself. He only likes to cuddle the people he knows. He has a hard time around kids, strangers on leash, groomers, and vets. Nookie would do best in an adult only home where he gets regular walks and would do well with another dog in the home.

Story
Luna is just a cuddly, sensitive, mushmelon of a dog. We adopted her from Austin Pets Alive in 2020 and since then, her life with us has changed dramatically, particularly with the introduction of our 2 young kids. All these changes have caused her a lot of stress, so we are looking to find her a better environment where she can thrive before we move to Chicago. She is very low maintenance within her day to day routine and environment. She doesn't need a ton of exercise (a short walk or zoomies in the yard). She is very chill and will gladly lay at your feet while you work or watch TV. She also LOVES to cuddle. Before we had kids, we took her everywhere including cross-country travel, off-leash hikes and dog parks. She is VERY food motivated and will do pretty much anything for a treat. Not a requirement, but I think she would do well in a home with another dog so she can kind of follow their lead.

Story
Hello I am Sunny! I was adopted at APA around the end of November 2024 and have enjoyed my time getting to know my parents. They say I am a beautiful, high-energy American Staffordshire Terrier mix, born on 04/05/2023. I love playtime, tug-of-war, and going on walks. I might need some training on my leash but I am ready to learn! After some good exercise, I am ready to relax and cuddle! I also enjoy quiet moments by your side and am eager to learn new tricks with lots of treats. Please take me on car ride adventures as I love the wind blowing in my face. I am spayed, and up-to-date on most of my vaccinations, and am in excellent health. I thrive in an active home where I can get plenty of exercise, love, and attention. While I am incredibly sweet and affectionate, I need a friend that can continue to teach and train me so I can become the best version of myself. A secure yard for playtime No small children (due to her energy level) An experienced dog owner

Story
About:Rocky is an adorable and compact guy with a playful personality and a love for adventure. He has the energy and enthusiasm of a much younger dog, combined with the maturity to know when it’s time to relax. He showed up at AAC as a puppy and he lived with the family that adopted him for 4 years before they moved out of state and dropped him back off at the shelter. Rocky is eager to find his forever home and shower his new family with affection .The Perfect Mix of Active and Cuddly:Rocky loves exploring the world on walks and enjoys playing with toys in the yard. He can be a bit enthusiastic on leash at first, but with a little patience and positive reinforcement, he quickly becomes a joy to walk. After a day of adventure, Rocky loves to relax on the couch for some quality cuddle time. This little guy is all about the good life: walks, cuddles, and belly rubs.Well-Mannered:Rocky is very treat-motivated which makes him a quick learner and eager to please. He enjoys puzzle toys and is already house-trained, making the transition back into a home environment a breeze.Ready to meet your new best friend?Rocky is a love bug who`s ready to shower his new family with affection. He`s happiest when he`s the center of attention, so he`d thrive as the only pet in a loving home. Don`t miss out on the chance to meet this little baked potato with a heart of gold!

Story
Meet the sweet, petite and playful Erna. Erna is about 4 years old and the perfect medium sized pup who makes a great lap dog and adventure pal. Because of Erna`s mature age, she is already housetrained and checks in with her volunteer and staff handler & walks!Erna is filled with love and will be sure to give you affection and cuddles. She also is playful and loves her walk time, play yard time where she can roam free, even went on an outing recently where she enjoyed the Lady Bird Trail, a Volunteer`s home (perfect house guest) and a car ride where she smiled the whole way there (see pictures!).Erna would do best in a home where she can get ample walks or a place with a yard! She does love to chase pesky squirrels so she will keep you alert on walks if they are out and about! While Erna has had time in foster, we`ve learned she would do just fine as an only dog if that is your cup of tea! She does appreciate slower intros with new comers to the home but is treat motivated and would do so well with an adopter or foster who can build her confidence in those situations - treats are key! She’s smart and would love to work on puzzles too. She has picked up quickly on patterns and routines and has all the potential once she can get some stability in her future home! Erna is deserving of love, loyalty and a consistent caregiver. If you want to meet this sweet, petite and smart girl, we urge you to come to AAC today!
