Story
This big boy started off very timid, shy, super skinny, and no fur. It turned out all he needed was so much love! He now has all of his fur back, has put on so much weight, and has so much loves and kisses to give! He has come into his own personality, he is protective, strong, energetic, and needs discipline. He has such puppy energy, we take him on morning runs, he loves the beach, he loves playing with our other two dogs. One Pitbull terroir she is 10 years old and another that is a puppy at 5 months old.  He can sit, stay, shake, lay down, and wait until called for his food. He is NOT fond of cats at all. I have a Catio in the back yard and have tried numerous times but he doesn’t understand and can’t control his excitement for something so unseen before. He is crate trained and puttied trained. With his strong body he needs work on pulling when walking on a leash and when he someone, something, or a new doggy he gets so excited he barks and goes crazy but it is only because he doesn’t know. I learned big group settings may be to overwhelming for him, as I have tried to take him to the dog park but he yelps and goes crazy in an overwhelmed way but when he meets a dog one on one after the first sniff he understands and he is so happy and sweet. I did enforce a bark collar but I only used it when necessary to teach him that he doesn’t need to bark to get his way, this is not a tool used daily nor very often it was only to show him that he can’t bark to get his way. Once he realized he shouldn’t be barking consistently he only barks to let me know when he has to epee or alert me if someone is walking up. Overall he is the sweetest boy with so much energy and strength and so much love he can’t wait to give his future family. He needs a family that will give him time and love and space to run as well as a very active life style. He has been around children as low as a 1.5 year old, he showed only signs of love, the only things is, he such a big goof ball he doesn’t know his strength so when he walks or runs or throws his body he doesn’t understand his strength. to meet me email BARCFOSTER@HOUSTONTX.GOV

Meet Buster!Buster is a fantastic, friendly dog who has been thriving in his foster home since March. He’s made great progress with his social skills and confidence, getting along wonderfully with the resident dogs and even the cat! Buster loves making new friends, whether they’re neighborhood dogs or kids—he’s incredibly gentle with children. He’s also doing great with his training, mastering basic commands like `place` and `leave it,` and he`s eager to learn more. Buster walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and loves working with humans. He’s smart, trainable, and ready to bring lots of love to his forever home! To meet me email BARCFoster@houstontx.gov

Story
Marty is a handsome boy who LOVES human companionship. If you want a cuddle-bug, he’s your guy. Marty is very curious and likes to follow his humans around the house because he simply wants to spend time with the family. He is dog friendly, but requires a slow and proper intro to new dogs. Marty does well with older kids, we recommend 12 years or older. He's also fully house trained, neutered, and up to date on shots. He doesn't like cats. Marty has a laid back demeanor and rarely barks, but he also loves to run and chase a ball. Did I mention he has the cutest head tilt you've ever seen? Please consider meeting Marty, he would love to find his furever family! Story
Meet Badger! This sweet-faced little guy is ready to steal your heart! He was found as a stray with an injured hip, stumbling and confused. After several specialists evaluated him, it was determined that he is in very good health, and is possibly a distemper survivor. Badger is now ready to live his best life!! Badger has a sweet personality. He has foster siblings both big and small and he LOVES to play with them. He would greatly benefit from having another dog in the home who could continue to support him- he really needs a buddy. When he’s tired, he is content to settle down and sleep at your feet or in a fluffy dog bed. Badger has human siblings, ages 6-16, and he is gentle and kind with all of them. He is food motivated and loves rotisserie chicken. No resource guarding has been observed, and you can remove toys or food from him with no problem. He has no problems on a leash, no aggression either, but we’re not sure about how he is with cats. Badger is excellent in a kennel. He willingly goes in his kennel throughout the day and never makes a peep. He is quiet all night long in his kennel, but he would probably also love snuggling in a bed under the covers! He is almost completely house trained, with only a rare accident, but he is eager to please and will continue to learn. Badger is continuing to learn how to trust people. It is possible that he hasn’t been treated kindly in the past. He will occasionally crouch down when approached, as if he expects something bad to happen. Kind words and gentle pets help reassure him. There is nothing not to love about Badger. He wants to live his best life, and he would bring JOY to any family. Please consider giving Badger his biggest wish- a forever family!!
