Story
Ozark is a smart, loveable, snuggly, and curious dog who just wants to be your best friend. He is a 5 and a half year-old, 42-pound American Staffordshire Terrier mix. He is really cool looking with awesome coloring. Ozark has the most beautiful brindle coat and white belly. He just wants to snuggle and will sit on your lap all day if you let him. He has a huge heart, and will be the best companion for anyone. Ozark is up to date on his vaccines, neutered, and microchipped. I rescued Ozark from a shelter 4 and a half years ago. Now my wife and I got married and moved in together, and come to find out she has allergies to all dogs. It has become a burden on her and we have to find Ozark a good loving home. It breaks my heart, because he is such a wonderful dog. Ozark is playful, loving, and a loyal companion. He loves to chew on bones, play tug-o-war and go on walks. He loves treats and is great at following simple commands, especially if you have treats in your hand. Ozark had professional training, so he knows sit, stay, down and basic commands. Ozark is comfortable around other dogs and cats, but it needs to be a gradual intro. He has lived with us a long time and we had other dogs and cats before, so he's really friendly with them once he gets to know them after the first or second introduction. He just wants to play with them at first meeting, but sometimes he doesn't know boundaries when he first meets them which can annoy the other animals. With that being said, he's super friendly, just a little dominant at first. He would be best in a home without other pets or children if possible, but once again we have had other dogs, cats and children in our home and Ozark is great with them. Ozark is a medium sized dog who has enjoyed having access to a large backyard and regular walks, but he is an inside dog and would not want to be left in the back yard for extended periods of time. He is used to being in the house and is comfortable spending long periods of time at home alone, so he will need to be an indoor dog. Ozark's favorite thing to do is spend quality time with humans, and he enjoys it when we have family and friends over because he loves to socialize with people. He's a lap dog, and he loves to snuggle at night if you let him on your bed. Ozark is housebroken and he does not destroy things. We love him so much and hope we are able to find him a home with people who love him as much as we do. It breaks our heart to have to re-home Ozark, he literally is like a furry son and deserves the best life ever! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Ozark, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Meet Merle! Merle is the most gorgeous pittie mix you’ve ever seen. She is spayed, heartworm negative and up to date on vaccinations. She has beautiful coloring with bi-colored eyes - one crystal blue and one green. She is a sweetheart that just wants her own family to love for Christmas. She is very good in the house and has not had any accidents. She has her own doggie bed in the spare bedroom at her Foster’s house and happily goes back in there when it’s time to go to bed at night. Merle is one of the happiest dogs we have ever seen. She has tons of energy and loves to play. She will jump sometimes but easily takes direction when you tell her no. She knows the sit command. She walks like a perfect lady on the leash. Merle is curious and playful with other dogs but is sometimes intimidated. We don’t know about cats because we haven’t had her around any. She has been around her fosters horses, mini cows, goats and llama and is very curious about them, but has never shown any aggression. She is a very special dog that deserves the best home ever! To meet Merle, please fill out an application! Application available at https://www.pawsofloverescue.com/adoption-application . Adoption donation includes spay/neuter, microchip, deworming, dhpp vaccinations, rabies shot, bordetella nose spray and any other necessary procedures prior to adoption. Dallas/Ft. Worth area Applications can be found online at www.pawsofloverescue.com, under the adopt tab.  We require an approved application before a meet and greet is set up.  December 10, 2024, 11:12 am

Story
(Dallas, Texas - Foster/Adopter desperately needed) King truly needs a hero, and we know that people with generous and kind hearts are out there. King is a playful guy, about 4.5 ~5 y & 40-45 lbs, so loving and content with whatever affection you'd give him. (a couple of videos in the Comment) King was abandoned and left alone in a small backyard run/kennel for 4 years exposed to all weather elements and confined in isolation and loneliness. We were so heartbroken seeing him carrying his bowl panting alone in the heat and dirt last summer, so Angie rescued him. Yet, without a foster, King's been living in a crate at a boarding facility for a year, and we desperately want him to have a chance to learn and enjoy living in a home! King's had several training sessions at the boarding facility, learned some basic commands and to trust humans, and is especially smitten by ladies. King's now a happy guy and loves loves the attention (& treats, of course). King enjoys a quiet life with NO other animal, being with humans, and feeling the breeze and sunlight on his face. King's content with carrying and chewing his toys by himself without the bother of the world. We really believe that a soul who suffered years of neglect and desolation deserves an understanding person/family to love him, and King'd give absolute devotion in return. King needs to be the only dog, is fixed, crate and house trained, and shots up to date. Please let us know if your home has a warm spot for King (for foster, Angie's Friends will provide everything that King needs).  October 13, 2024, 11:35 pm

Story
I'm Chaz's Foster Mom and I'd like to walk you through his perfect day. Chaz will give you the sweetest, wiggliest greeting as you approach his kennel door with his breakfast. He then likes a short run and exploration in the yard before turning in and rounding out his night’s sleep with a bonus morning nap. Afterwards, he loves to get haltered up for his morning walk. 20-30 minutes is long enough for Chaz. He’s pretty strong on leash, but nonreactive to other dogs which is nice. Later he’d love a car ride to anywhere, even the vet. (His vet reciprocates, everyone there loves Chaz!) Or a drive for a pupp-uccino, local coffee shop or just a spin around town. He’d then like more time in the yard to protect you from all the squirrels, lizards and butterflies. Before you know it, meal time again. In the evening he'd love to sit on the couch with you for some pets and good belly rubbin'! He flips on his back for you, while in a swaddle position to make this very easy. All the times inbetween, he'd really just like to be at your feet. When you are not home, he's very happy in his kennel. That's a perfect day for Chaz, and you don’t have to do it in that order or even fit all of that in daily of course. That's just a peek into what things could be like with this little guy. Chaz wanted to add a couple of things: I am small for my breed and am only 40lbs and my head is only 19in off the ground. I photograph big, but I think that's my smashing personality coming through. I sit on command AND I stay put too, until you release me with a "yes"! I also go to my kennel anytime you ask, but I could probably be free roaming doggie in a house if you let me. Yes, I do think I would like that. To top it all off, I'm playful and I like to retrieve a ball and play tug-o-war. I've been looking for a home since I was impounded at the shelter back in February 2024. That's a long time. I'd do anything for a home of my own!!! You can foster me or adopt me...just fill out the application and someone will take it from there. Signed, Chazzie ##1997426##

Story
Meet Mia, an American Pit Bull/Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix that was brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 4/19. Mia is more than ready to leave the confines of the shelter after 3 months and settle into a home in which she will be cherished and loved. She weighs about 45 pounds, is 4-5 years old and is spayed. She came in looking as though she had not been well cared for with scrapes on her face, scruffy fur, some flaky scaly skin, and underweight, but with a daily healthy food and the care she has received she looks far more healthy. She has a moderate activity level and does jump on you some, though not excessively. She does fine on a leash. She has had at least one litter of pups. Mia is happy to receive treats and does so politely. She`s friendly and likes to receive loving attention. She`s a playful girl and enjoys toys. She found the cozy doggie bed in the room in which I did her eval and she enjoyed the soft and comfortable feel of it. This tail-wagging, lively gal would be thrilled to find her very own loving home in which she would be allowed to live inside because it seems highly probable that she has been a backyard dog. Won`t you please assist Mia in finding her dream home?

Story
This precious girl is Nia. She is a terrier mix that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 8/3. Yes, you read that correctly. She has been at the shelter for well over three months. Nia weighs 56 pounds, is about 3 years of age and is spayed. The volunteer who did her original eval named her Nia because it means bright and she certainly lives up to her name. She’s a bright shining star! She does well on a leash. She knows the sit command, she will do so for treats and takes them nicely. She has an easy-going personality and a calm and gentle demeanor. She spent a great deal of time during the photo session exploring the yard. She is a friendly and affectionate girl, OK with being petted and I’m told she gives kisses, though I did not receive any today. She is patiently waiting and hoping that one day soon someone will stop in front of her kennel window, ask to spend time with her and fall head-over-heels in love with her! She must insist on being an inside dog because she wants to socialize and be an integral part of the family circle. Please help Nia’s residence at the shelter to quickly come to an end so that she can begin her new life in her forever home.

Story
I got carried away taking photos of Lance because he’s so cute and was so photogenic! The shelter has Lance listed as a Staffordshire Terrier. My Dog Scanner said he’s a miniature Bull Terrier and Dogo Argentino mix. He’s three years old and weighs 56 pounds. He came to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/18 as a stray. He’s got captivating big brown eyes, stand-up ears and is a low rider. Mix it all together and you have an adorable guy! I was met in his kennel with tail wags and from then on his tail never stopped wagging. He’s obviously a very happy guy. He was also alert keeping an eye on the goings-on beyond the gate. He sits for treats and takes them gently. He occasionally jumps on you but gets down with a sharp retort. He would wander out into the yard, and then come back and look at me. He then would repeat this behavior over and over. He wanted affirmation. He’s friendly and good-natured. He may be housebroken as he did his business as soon as he got out into the yard. He had a semi-strong pull on the leash. He wagged his tail meeting some of the dogs in the bay. Judging from the calluses on his elbows, I’m assuming that Lance has been mostly an outside dog. Lance would like to be an inside dog this time around. He would like to share family time with you. He would love to snuggle up next to you!

COURTESY POST: Meet Rocky. He is a sweet boy who has been with his current caretakers for a long time. Rocky is a social butterfly and loves the company of cats, kids, and other dogs. He is currently in boarding and desperately needs a foster home or an adopter. Rocky is fully vetted and ready to go to his new home. Please consider giving Rocky a loving home. Rocky is about 4 years old and weighs 65 pounds. Please note that we don't recommend Rocky to families with children under 5. We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.

Story
Diamond is a sweet, silly affectionate pup who is absolutely full of energy. Diamond is 3 1/2 years old and weighs about 50 lbs. She is a boxer mix with short straight red fur. I adopted Diamond in June from the SPCA after she spent the first 3 years of her life in the shelter. Due to how she spent the first part of her life, Diamond does have some anxieties and reactive behaviors. She does best with other dogs her size or bigger when we go to the dog park. Due to her excitability, she can be overwhelming for smaller dogs and sometimes gets a bit too rough with them. Diamond is not great with cats at all. Diamond loves people and children, but because of her size and strength, older children (over age 6 or 7) would probably be best. While she is high-energy, Diamond loves to snuggle and definitely thinks she is a lap dog. Diamond would do best in a home with a yard. She loves being outdoors and would stay out there all day if allowed. Iâ&#194&#128&#194&#153m having to rehome her due to my living and working situation and not being able to give her the amount of training and space she really needs to thrive. She needs someone who can train her well and who can address her reactive behaviors. Diamond really is a sweet dog who is great to snuggle up with. She just needs and deserves more than I can give her at this current time. Diamond is up to date on all shots through May 2025. She has been microchipped, spayed and is mostly house-trained (accidents still sometimes happen). This lovable, active pup is deserving of the perfect furever home. Could it be with you?
