Story
Meet Bean! A spirited Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix currently in Houston, TX, estimated to be one-year-old, whose essence is a whirlwind of joy wrapped in a stunning brown brindle coat. Bean’s story begins during a rare Houston freeze, when this affectionate boy sought warmth and comfort by trotting into a family’s yard. Since then, he’s been safe and cared for, but now he’s ready for his next chapter. One filled with play, companionship, and endless love! Weighing in at around 40 pounds, Bean is a perfect medium-sized buddy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This playful pup is full of energy and thrives in the company of humans. He’s a classic cuddlebug who enjoys toys, blankets, and a good round of fetch! He’s been incredibly gentle with children (including a ten-year-old friend) and has shown nothing but sweetness and curiosity around other dogs, though his interactions have been limited so far. Bean knows basic commands like “sit” and “no,” and is looking for a pet parent who can continue his journey with positive reinforcement and structure. Bean is happiest when surrounded by his people and may feel anxious when separated, so a family that enjoys including their dog in daily life would be the perfect fit. Whether it’s morning walks, backyard romps, or lounging on the couch after a long day, Bean is ready to be your constant companion. His puppy behaviors, like playful chewing, are all part of his charm and simply signs of a smart, active dog eager to engage with the world around him. He would do well in a loving, active home that understands playful pups and is open-minded about breed stereotypes. Bean’s future family will be one that values joy, commitment, and connection, and wants a dog who gives all of that in return, every single day. Bean will be required to be neutered prior to placement in his new home. Could your home be the joyful place where Bean’s next adventure begins? Story
Meet Bosun! A deeply affectionate eight-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier currently in Austin, TX, whose calm heart and routine-loving soul make him the ultimate steady companion wrapped in a warm brown coat with white accents. Bosun is a 65-pound cuddle connoisseur with a temperament as soothing as a cozy afternoon nap in the sun. He thrives in the comfort of structure, give him a routine, and he’ll give you unwavering companionship in return. He’s crate-trained, house-trained, and responds beautifully to structure and positive reinforcement. He knows “place,” “come,” “sit,” “stay,” “leave it,” and “drop it,” and he’s currently polishing up his skills through a professional board-and-train program with Koru K9, with follow-up support included for his future family. What makes Bosun truly unforgettable? His whole-body lean when he wants affection like a living, tail-wagging weighted blanket! He barely barks (unless a UPS truck dares to approach), and he respects household rules like a true gentleman. He’s happiest near his person, lounging in a sunny patch or following you from room to room with quiet devotion. Bosun’s ideal home is calm and consistent, with someone who appreciates the beauty of a slow morning, the peace of a steady rhythm, and the joy of a dog who simply wants to be near the people he loves. He’s friendly with other dogs, gentle with cats, and has done well around older kids. Though he used to struggle with separation anxiety, he’s made impressive strides, thanks to his training, he can now settle calmly when left alone for short periods. In the past, when Bosun didn’t receive enough physical exercise or mental engagement before being left alone, he would occasionally grab items like books or packages from the counter and tear them up. However, this behavior has been fully resolved with consistent daily walks and enrichment. Providing mental stimulation (such as a snuffle mat, puzzle toy, or licking treat) allows him to settle calmly and contently when left alone. He only tends to act out when his exercise and enrichment needs haven’t been met beforehand. Warm weather, enrichment toys, and tug-of-war are a few of his favorite things (beware: he will play tug until your arms give out, then kindly suggest you use the other one). Bosun doesn’t need much, just love, routine, and a comfy spot on the couch! Are you ready to bring home a loyal, sunbathing sidekick who’ll lean into your life with love? Story
Milo came from a border town in Mexico where very few dogs get a second chance. He was extremely scared and shut down at first, and only weighed 34 lbs when he was rescued. Now in a foster home, Milo is doing much better and has gained healthy weight—he’s now about 55 lbs. He is around 5 years and 5 months old, neutered, up to date on shots, and house trained. He gets along great with other dogs, both big and small, and does best with a dog companion to help build his confidence. Milo is also cat-friendly. Because of his fearful background, we think Milo would do best in a home without small children. Fast movements and loud noise can overwhelm him, so older kids or an adult home would be ideal. Once he feels safe, he enjoys cuddling and being close to his people. Milo’s adoption fee is $350. You can apply to adopt him at: codysfriendsrescue.org or here in this app. ##1111626##

Story
Meet Koko — a soulful, affectionate girl with the most unforgettable blue eyes Born June 20, 2023, Koko is a stunning 65-lb beauty with piercing blue eyes, a soft coat, and a heart that bonds deeply with her people. She is a true snuggle bug — affectionate, goofy, and eager to please — and she thrives on close connection with those she trusts. Koko is exceptionally well-mannered and very obedient. She is fully house-trained and naturally polite, often waiting patiently for permission before eating, hopping on the couch, or entering a room. She knows commands such as sit, paw, stay, kiss, and go to the cage, walks beautifully on a leash without pulling, and rides calmly in the car. At home, Koko is loving, playful, and content — equally happy being silly or settling in for belly rubs and cuddles. She forms strong bonds and is deeply loyal once she feels safe. Koko does best in: A calm, structured home A household with older children (pre-teen and up) An environment where her boundaries are respected She can coexist with other dogs, but she is dog-selective and requires thoughtful introductions. She has successfully formed close friendships with the right dog personalities and would thrive either as an only dog or with a compatible canine companion. Koko tends to bond more quickly with women but has shown she can build trusting relationships with men given time, consistency, and patience. Once she trusts you, she is incredibly devoted. Koko’s previous family realized they couldn’t give her the time and attention she deserves. She is now ready for a forever home that will offer understanding, stability, and love — and in return, she will give her whole heart. House-trained Spayed, vaccinated, and healthy Koko is not just a good dog — she’s a deeply special one, waiting for the right home to truly see her. ##2008745##
