Story
Meet Rexie - Take My Lead Dog Rexie is a young and energetic pup. He is about ten months old and is always ready for an adventure. He would love to be a hiking buddy, to be a running buddy, and would likely excel at agility. Rexie has received a Take My Lead grant to work on some of his over excitement that he is experiencing in the shelter setting which is not ideal for a young energetic dog. We are confident that once out of a shelter, and with some FREE training through his Take My Lead grant from Handsome Dan's Rescue, he will learn to be the best pup he can be. Story
Meet Kogi - Take My Lead Dog Kogi is a 1.5 year old pint sized little lady. She's snuggly and shy at first, but you would be too if you ended up at a shelter after having a very loving home. Kogi has been granted a Handsome Dan's Rescue Take My Lead grant which means she comes with $500 in FREE private training, and supplies on top of that, once adopted. Kogi is an enthusiastic girl who has experience with agility, spring pole, sled pull, and running alongside a bike! Her TML credentialed trainer or behavior consultant will get you two started off on the right paw. Once her forever home or person is found, she will be matched to the professional who makes the most sense depending on the situation. Having known Kogi since she was a pup, I know that she is very well socialized to all things in the community, and folks of all ages. Upon assessment now at the shelter, we found that she was a bit afraid of the two dogs we used to assess her dog sociability. So she may do best as an only dog. In case you are wondering how I have known Kogi since she was a pup, I have known her very loving previous owner for years. Unfortunately, through no fault of his own, his housing situation changed and he had to give her up. We have promised him we will find her the very best home possible, and look out for her along the way. Kogi is a resident at Providence Animal Control where she is dearly loved. To apply for Kogi you can fill out an adoption application here: https://www.handsomedansrescue.org/adoption-application/ Or contact Providence Animal Control 200 Terminal Rd, Providence, RI, United States, Rhode Island (401) 243-6040 PACadoptions@providenceri.gov or you can contact me at heather@obhounds.com

Story
et Petu! 1.5 year old pint sized Petu is and fun, enthusiastic girl. She's snuggly and friendly and waiting for her forever home where she can get plenty of time doing what he does best... training! She is a very quick study, and once she acquires a skill, she loves to show it off. Can you say party tricks??? Petu has been granted a Handsome Dan's Rescue Take My Lead grant which means she comes with $500 in FREE private training, and supplies on top of that, once adopted. She wants to be able to show off, this will help you teach her how! She does have some training under her belt, but with her excitement to work, her TML credentialed trainer or behavior consultant will get you two started off on the right paw. Once her forever home or person is found, she will be matched to the professional who makes the most sense depending on the situation. Having known Petu since she was a pup, I know that she is very well socialized to all things in the community, and folks of all ages. Upon assessment now at the shelter, we found that he could get along with another dog, but introductions are done on a case by case basis to ensure the best fit with any potential canine siblings. Incase you are wondering how I have known Petu since she was a pup, I have known her very loving previous owner for years. Story
Introducing the most handsome 1 yr old boy, Dave. The beginning of Dave’s life wasn’t the best, but you would never know it as this boy’s smile lights up the room and he is just full of love. 💙🐾 Dave is smitten with every person he meets and is also absolutely fantastic with other dogs and has a wonderful submissive personality. Dave seems to be housetrained and isn’t a destructive boy though he does love romping around with any and all toys. 🐶❤️ Dave adores attention and two and four legged friends and would love a family that includes him on their adventures, whether they be hikes or snuggling up for a Netflix marathon. This handsome boy still gets excited about greeting new people so either a family that is willing to work with him on that or one without toddlers would be best.🫶🏻 This gorgeous, loving boy is ready to live the good life with his forever family and he’s hoping it might be you! 🎉😊 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Thank you for your interest in Charlie! Charlie lives in an Alabama Foster Home and will transport when he is adopted. We will put the Adopter in touch with the Foster family for FaceTime and videos so that you can see your dog in real time and learn more about him. Charlie is approximately three years old and weighs 55 pounds. We do think he has German shorthair pointer and Staffordshire terrier in his breed mix. It’s possible he has a number of breeds in his DNA. What’s important is that he is a gentle and sweet dog, that is learning to trust the world around him. He likes his crate and enjoys playing with toys. Someone left Charlie on the side of the highway with another dog back in July. He was a nice dog that deserved better than the loser that dumped him. We promised Charlie a loving home. He needs 3 to 5 days to come out of his shell. He didn’t have an easy and predictable life before he was rescued. He has a thick scar on the back of his neck where he once wore an embedded collar before we met him. He no longer remembers those times. And he would look so nice in a ! You can find a video of Charlie on our Another Chance Dog Rescue Facebook page. He has not lived with cats. The cats that he sees outside of the yard upset him. He has not lived with children, but he has been good with school-age children that visit. He’s good with strangers, but can be shy at first meeting. Charlie’s adoption includes neuter, rabies, heartworm negative, multiple vaccines, and boosters, and parasite prevention. He comes with his medical records. Serious adopters should fill out the application online. Copy and paste the link into your browser. Total adoption fee $375 includes transportation to New England and a health certificate from a licensed veterinarian before transport. Story
Aslan is a stunning and loving dog who thrives in a calm, one-dog household. He has spent too much time in a crate, which isn’t fair for such a strong, affectionate boy. While he started his life with us full of potential, my alpha dogs won’t allow him to be part of the pack. Aslan would be happiest as the only “fur child” in a home with a securely fenced yard and no small children, as they make him nervous. I can’t provide the environment Aslan deserves, but I’m committed to finding him a home where he can truly thrive. He’s a loyal, beautiful companion for the right person/family.

Meet Kogi! Kogi is a happy, bouncy, active love bug. While she could spend the day running around and jumping up and down, she wouldn't mind spending at least some time melting into some hugs. Due to her level of energy Kogi would do best in a home with only those 16+ and with no other pets.

Story
Rubi Provac is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! Rubi is a special girl that was taken into rescue from a local shelter. Before being surrendered there, she lived with 7 other dogs. Currently in foster care, she is living with two other dogs. We have learned that she is quite reliant on other dogs for comfort and would do best in a home with another confident dog. Rubi does not like to be left alone, and being home with another dog helps her when her humans leave. Rubi loves children. She is house trained. She prefers to be left free roaming when her humans leave the house and she has not been destructive in foster care. Rubi is looking for a family who spends most of their time home or on adventures where she can join them. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.
