Story
We would like to introduce you to EMMY LOU. She is a one year old Staffy mix who came to our pound as a stray. EMMY is the sweetest girl who doesn't know a stranger. She is good with kids and other dogs. We don't know if she likes full grown cats or not, but we know she loves kittens and doesn't mind when they bat at her with their little paws. EMMY is energetic and active. Because she likes to jump on people, she is now going through basic obedience training at the Belmont Correctional Institution in their Cell Dog Training Program. She is available for adoption while in training and a meetngreet can be arranged for an approved adopter. Harrison County Dog Pound, 82900 Toot Rd. Cadiz, OH 43907 Open: Monday-Friday 10am-4pm; Saturday 9am-2pm; Closed Sundays and holidays. Out of state adoptions welcomed. Applications are available at the pound and online at harrisoncountydogpoundvolunteers, org. Apple users must access our website and submit application using Google, not Safari. $40 adoption fee. 740-942-4080

Story
Hello! My name is Luke! I am a sweet, soft-spoken boy looking for a forever home. I was surrendered to the shelter when my owner had to have surgery and wasn`t able to care for me. I was actually adopted from BCHS in 2023 too, so this is my second time in the shelter. I enjoy going to dog playgroup, but can be selective about which friends I enjoy playing with the most. I am not allowed to go home with cats, as I like to chase them a bit too much. My previous owner said that I was very housebroken, well-behaved, and even crate trained! I love my crate; it is my own little safe space. When you first meet me, you`ll find that I am very shy. I would do best in a home with experienced dog owners (not a first-time owner) because of how timid I can be. The world is really big and sometimes I feel really small. I need someone who can help me find courage to go on adventures, try new things, and explore life around me! I am very sweet and love pets, treats, and cheese! I would love to meet you today and maybe we will be a match! Come on down today! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2024 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$7.20)Leash and collar included
