Story
We would like to introduce you to EMMY LOU. She is a one year old Staffy mix who came to our pound as a stray. EMMY is the sweetest girl who doesn't know a stranger. She is good with kids and other dogs. We don't know if she likes full grown cats or not, but we know she loves kittens and doesn't mind when they bat at her with their little paws. EMMY is energetic and active. Because she likes to jump on people, she is now going through basic obedience training at the Belmont Correctional Institution in their Cell Dog Training Program. She is available for adoption while in training and a meetngreet can be arranged for an approved adopter. Harrison County Dog Pound, 82900 Toot Rd. Cadiz, OH 43907 Open: Monday-Friday 10am-4pm; Saturday 9am-2pm; Closed Sundays and holidays. Out of state adoptions welcomed. Applications are available at the pound and online at harrisoncountydogpoundvolunteers, org. Apple users must access our website and submit application using Google, not Safari. $40 adoption fee. 740-942-4080

We would like to introduce you to BREA. She is around one year old and an American Staffordshire mix. BREA came to us as a stray having shown up at someone's house in Harrisville. She is a sweetheart. BREA is very energetic and would do well with an active family. She would be a great agility dog. She is gold medal material when it comes to jumping. She is still a pup and will destuff a stuff toy in record time. With some training, BREA is going to make someone a very special and loving girl. Harrison County Dog Pound, 82900 Toot Rd. **WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there! My name is Buck. I'll be 2 years old in March and I weigh about 68 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound and I am now looking for a new, loving family to join. I once lived on a farm with lots of room to run, but then we moved to the city and when I got my outside time, I had to go in a kennel. I didn't like that very much, so I found ways to escape so I could run (I was intact, so that didn't help). I am a very sweet boy, but I am big, strong and energetic. I would do best with a bully breed savvy owner that is assertive and not afraid of my size. I am very smart and I listen very well if I know you're not going to have my shenanigans. I have been good at the the pound around other dogs. I should meet any dogs I'll live with, just to make sure we're compatible. I was a house dog before making my way into the pound and I am said to be housebroken. I do a good job of keeping my kennel clean here at the pound. If you're looking for a big, sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Mabel has had a rough life. At 5 years of age she was brought to the Humane Society of St Thomas as a stray. She had horrible mange, extremely malnourished, green discharge coming out of her eyes, heartworm positive and heavily pregnant. Mabel had to be spayed immediately, even though she was full term pregnancy because of her poor health. Mabel needed our help! Mabel is so very sweet and people and kid friendly. She is reactive to cats and is dog selective when she encounters other dogs as she was crated so much of the time in St Thomas due to her health. Since arriving at Pet Search, her skin is looking better, she has started her heartworm treatment (which is fully covered with her adoption fee) and she just wants to be held, kissed and snuggled! Mabel loves to walk and is now realizing what "play means! She is around 40 pounds, so she is very manageable in size and weight to pick up., since she lives to sit on your lap! This very sweet girl needs a special person who will appreciate and cherish the love she has to share Applications can be found at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PAPS/Dog KL#03301 Washington PA 15301
