Story
Neptune is a magnificent 3-year old male American Staffordshire Terrier who was surrendered by his owner on August 29, 2024. Neptune may look familiar to some of our volunteers and Facebook fans since Neptune was originally bought to the HSOV on December 14, 2023 after he was found on State Route 7 in the Marietta/Reno Ohio area. Neptune was not wearing a collar, but a microchip was detected. Our shelter staff attempted to locate his owner through the microchip data but was unable to do so since the individual to whom the microchip was registered had re-homed Neptune to a 'friend-of-a-friend' and no longer had any contact information (sigh). This handsome guy has a sleek chocolate brown-and-white coat, white markings on his legs/paws, a long tail with a white tip on the end, and a beautiful symmetrically-marked face with dark brown eyes, a chocolate nose on his pink/white muzzle, and cute 'cartoon ears'. You cannot look at Neptune's mischievous-looking face without smiling. Neptune has a playful, fun-loving personality. Thanks to HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver who accompanied Neptune for his outdoor photos on December 16th. Neptune thoroughly enjoyed his '15-minutes of fame' and (like all of the HSOV dogs), he loved Emily. Neptune weighs 62 lbs and is strong on the other end of a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Neptune was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Since Neptune was not reclaimed, he was neutered on February 15, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine. We did our usual 'Happy Dance' when Neptune was adopted on March 2, 2024 .. But Neptune's time in his new home was short-lived since he was returned to HSOV on April 24, 2024. It seems that Neptune was jumping the fence in his new home and making un-wanted social visits with his neighbors' dogs (and was not playing nice) ... So we would suggest Neptune find a home that he would not have to share with other dogs or be allowed to leaving his property unleashed. Neptune is a happy boy with a very outgoing personality. We were happy for Neptune when he was adopted on June 26, 2024 .. And we were sad for Neptune when he came back to HSOV on August 29, 2024 through no fault of his own. Neptune was loved by his new family

Story
Dezik is a handsome 2-year old male American Pit Bull Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier who was surrendered by his owner on August 1, 2024 along with Dezik's beautiful companion (Laika) since their family was no longer in a position to take care of their beloved pets. Dezik has a sleek black coat with a large white bib on his chest, a rather long body, a long tail, and an adorable chubby face with dark brown eyes, a splash of white on his muzzle, a blue/charcoal gray nose, and short floppy ears. Dezik has the cutest 'smile'. Dezik is a happy boy with a friendly, easygoing personality. He was the perfect gentleman when HSOV Kennel Tech Tim Swaney accompanied him for his photo session on August 2nd 2024. Dezik weighs 65 lbs and walked well on a leash with Tim by his side. Dezik appears to be housetrained. Dezik will be neutered before being adopted by his new family (a requirement for HSOV adoptions to be finalized). Dezik could be fostered while he awaits his neuter procedure with an approved HSOV foster-/adoption application.

Story
Nader is a beautiful 4-year old female American Staffordshire Terirer who was brought to the HSOV on September 9, 2024 after she was found on Franklin Street in Marietta Ohio. Nader was wearing a collar but there was neither an id tag nor a dog license tag on her collar .. And she was not microchipped. Nader has a sleek auburn/brown short smooth coat with white marking on her neck/check, a long thin tail, and an adorable chubby Staffordshire face with amber-colored eyes, a red/liver-colored nose, and semi-erect ears. This sweet girl has a friendly disposition and loves attention. Nader enjoyed soft plush stuffed toys during her first day in our shelter even though she plays rough with them and they don't survive very long. These photos of Nader were taken late in the afternoon on September 9, 2024 when HSOV Lead Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash accompanied Nader for outdoor glamour pictures. Nader ran a few laps around Jared to show off her 'body beautiful' then decided needed some more attention from Jared .. And quickly rewarded him with some nice doggy kisses. Nader is a full-figured girl who currently weighs 76.2 lbs. She walked fairly well on a leash for Jared. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Nader will be held for three days so that her family will have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. We hope that her family (or someone will recognize her and help us reunited Nader with her people). She is very sad being in an unfamiliar place and cries for attention when she is left alone.

Story
Mordy is a magnificent 6-year old male American Staffordshire Terrier who was surrendered by his owner on September 24, 2024 because he was no longer able to take care of Mordy due to landlord/housing issues. This handsome boy has a pale brown/brindle short smooth coat with white markings on his chest/paws, a long tail, and an adorable chubby Staffordshire face with brown eyes, a blue/gray nose, and short semi-erect ears. Mordy has the appearance of being slightly 'cross-eyed' which gives him the cutest facial expressions. There's just something about Mordy that makes you want to hug him and hold him close. Mordy has a sweet, affectionate personality. His owner told us that Mordy was good with children, and it appears that he is good with other dogs (but not cats). Mordy has been kept indoors and is housebroken. He has some anxiety issues .. Not sure if Mordy has separation anxiety issues since it was not exactly specified. These photos of Mordy were taken on September 23, 2024 when HSOV Kennel Tech Wyatt Valentine accompanied him for outdoor pictures that afternoon. Mordy was in love with Wyatt (and vice versa) and adored attention from him. Mordy is a big boy who weighs 77 lbs. He has already been neutered, so he could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV Foster- or Adoption Application.

Story
Bailey is an adorable 7-1/2 year old female English Bulldog who was surrendered by her owner on December 27, 2023 because she did not get along the other dogs in family's home. This little sweetheart has a snow white coat, a broad chest, a tiny docked tail, and a beautiful Bulldog face with dark brown eyes, teeny white eyelashes, short ears, a black button nose, and a classic short, broad, 'upward-turned' muzzle. Bailey is listed as a 'Special Needs Dog' since she is hearing impaired/deaf. Bailey has a sweet, easygoing personality with her people friends and was a pleasure to photograph when HSOV Humane Officer Fredley Tynan accompanied her for outdoor glamour pictures late in the afternoon on August 2nd. Bailey may look familiar to many of our volunteers (and Facebook fans) since she had been brought to the HSOV on August 2, 2023 and was adopted on August 29, 2023. So Bailey spent four months in her adoptive home. Bailey weighs 48 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash. She has already been spayed. Her adopted family reported that Bailey does not do well with young children but is fine with older children. Bailey is not good with other dogs or cats. She is protective of her food bowl and does NOT tolerate having her nails trimmed. Bailey has been kept indoors and is housetrained. She is crate-trained and was kept indoors in a crate during the night. Bailey spent time in her fenced-in yard for exercise (and she enjoys being a lap dog). Bailey does well being bathed, and she loves to ride in a car. Bailey is currently in foster care. She is available for meet-and-greet and/or adoption with an approved HSOV adoption application.

Story
Duke is a handsome 2-year old male Boxer mix who was brought to the HSOV on January 30, 2024 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff who had picked Duke up (along with his beautiful sister Lucy) on Dana's Run Road in the Newport Ohio area. Duke has a dark brown/black short smooth coat in a brindle pattern, a large white bib on his chest, white paws, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face brindle/white face with beautiful brown eyes, a black button nose, and short floppy ears. These photos were taken on February 3, 2024 when HSOV Kennel Tech Sydney Satow spent time with Duke for his Petfinder/Facebook/Adoptapet photos. Duke weighs approximately 65 lbs and is very strong on a leash. Duke has already been neutered and was given rabies vaccine on February 14, 2023. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Duke was held for three days so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Neither Duke (nor his sister Lucy) were reclaimed. We've learned that Duke does NOT do well with other dogs (or cats), so he would be looking for a home that he did not have to share with other animals.

Story
Lucy is a beautiful 2-year old female Boxer mix who was brought to the HSOV on January 30, 2024 by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff who picked Lucy up (and also her good-looking brother Duke) after they were found on Dana's Run Road in the Newport Ohio area. Lucy has a black-and-white short smooth coat with an intriguing pattern, a long tail, and an adorable face with a large black "pirate's patch" around her left eye, a black button nose on her chubby muzzle, and short floppy ears. Lucy has a vivacious outgoing personality and was ready for 'action photos' when HSOV Kennel Tech Bradyn Morris accompanied her for outdoor glamour photos on the afternoon of February 3, 2024. Lucy weighs 47.3 lbs and is surprisingly very strong on a leash since she isn't a very big girl when you see her in person. Lucy has already been spayed and was given rabies vaccine on February 14, 2023. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Lucy was held for three days so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Neither Lucy nor Duke were reclaimed. We've learned that Lucy is selective about making friends with other dogs and chooses those that she likes or dislikes. Lucy does NOT do well with cats and should not be placed in home where she would have contact with feline friends.
